I have more reason to dislike Hayden now.

The race is over for me.

Peace out

EDIT: And the commentators suck. They explain everything to the viewer as if we were ........ And his southern accent sucks.

USGP this year sucks.
Hopefully we can get some good racing at the end.

It wasn't Hayden. It was ....... Hypekins chillin in people's blindspots like a soccer mom!

Stoner can take credit for kicking the whole thing off by missing the apex of the Andretti hairpin by a country mile. ....... 250 children, panicky as all hell.

Stoner, you'd better win, Ducati needs it.

How was Stoner possibly to blame?

Watch closely. He's so panicked about both Repsol's getting in front that he forgot to turn.

Glad he won though. Small consolation prize I suppose.

Regardless of what happened in front Hayden still missed the hairpin by even more. He allmost had to back it it up to get through the turn and should have checked before turnig the bike like that. What he got was totally selfinflicted and I feel sorry for hoppkins. He only did what any racer should and must do, try to pass any he can, just to get Hayden torpedo him form the outside.

But more important:
Congrats to Stoner. A power demonstration, Absolutly fantastic.
Congrats to Vermulen, finally fast on dry.
Congrats to Melandri, for making the podium after yesterdays crash
Cangrats to Rossi, as the best Michelin rider.

Racing incident imo. When 19 bikes are piling into the first corner, .... happens. No need to play the blame game.

I didnt see the race, just got home, and couldnt tape it, can someone please tell me what happened to Nicky??????

He went round the outside into turn one, Stoner pushed Nicky wide, Hopkins dived down the inside of him, they collided, Hopkins crashed and Nicky ended up at the back. It was shame because both were set for a good race.

Totally agree! No one to blame particularly.

Absolute rubbish blaming either Hopkins or Hayden for that!!
(Hopkins btw in post race interview underlined the fact it was a racing incident as well as saying "sometimes you lose them, sometimes you win them, I just hope I'll win one sometime")
Hayden only missed the turn because Stoner was on the inside line. Also racing incident...so no blame for stoner either but it is correct to say he kicked it all off - even if that was just for holding his line.

Hopefully the thread starter will realise after a nights kip and regret that this thread was created (maybe the captain would like ben to merge this thread into Laguna Seca Race SPOILER thread - also not to spoil the excitement for people who haven't seen the race yet).

Definitely! It killed a lot of the race infact. They were the ones that would have been fighting in the top 5. Was a great start from Hayden.

...well done to Melandri and all of Kawasaki - for the obvious reasons I don't need to explain...and it's heading towards 2am here.

I'll give Hopkins a pass for stuffing it down the inside in Nicky's blind spot b/c there wasn't much place else to go.

I'm not giving Stoner a pass though. Complete over zealous brake bombing into turn one. I'm willing to chalk it up to inexperience. It's only the second time in his whole life he's launched a bike into the Andretti hairpin under race conditions, and the last time he did it was 1 year ago.

Missing the apex by 5-10 ft on lap one in a critical hairpin is forgivable, but you still have to eat all the FLAK associated with poor riding; especially if you punt the hometown hero off his line for no racing benefit.

All he had to do was hit his break point, ride through parallel with Nicky and then drag to see who can get to the next turn first.
<
I could never do it, but I wouldn't expect it from Casey if I hadn't seen it a million times before.

Good on ya for winning your 6th for Ducati, Casey. But please don't ride like a starry-eyed 250 child on my boy's home turf again.

Actually your wrong

. The commentators were good. You have to remember there is a potentially huge audience out there that could be watching who are fairly ignorant of motorcycle racing.

We need more over weight, drunk American couch potatoes who veg out on Fox Sports to understand motorcycle racing.

Mylexicon...Stoner had the inside line!... come on what did you want Casey to do?...just wave Nicky and Pedro through and let them overtake? But Nicky wouldn’t have kept up with Casey anyways!...Casey was too quick for all of them!!! What Nicky should have done is taken the wider line around and made sure he didn’t cause an incident like he did to Hopper, if the field would have been more bunched it could have been a major with a few other riders!

I think Eagle could help us out here.

Eagle, in the middle of the Andretti Hairpin, would Nicky have been looking forward towards turn 3? Or do riders usually look to the side at that point? If riders usually look forward, then it would have been hard for Nicky to see John coming. Looked like a racing incident.

Yes. Stoner had the inside line. Hayden was in a good position to carry a lot more speed through the corner. Hayden tried to dive in to carry speed, Stoner wasn't having it.

All good to this point.

Unfortunately, Stoner braked too late trying to hold his position, missed the apex in the super crowded turn one (flying through other people's racing lines) and sent Nicky towards the dust bin where Nicky and Hopper came together.

Poor riding. Like you said, he was the fastest man on the circuit by nearly 1/2 second. He bogged the start then tried to make it up with some late breaking. I commend him for holding his line when Nicky pounced. I don't commend him for missing his line by two bike lengths in the Andretti hairpin.

Whatever, Stoner's not a bad rider, but that was poor riding and I will always attribute this result to his inexperience at the circuit.

You don't block Rossi at Mugello b/c you'll have a mob on your hands. You don't punt Gibby at Jerez and expect to get a pass. You don't miss the apex in critical turn one trying to make up for a mistake you made at the start, and then retire to hometown hopefuls. Even if it's legit, you're still going to take heat.

fox coverage was ...., thank god that was the last usa network coverage for this year. yeah speed will show the rest but that's international feed & commentry
