Thank You God for Rossi and Yamaha, ...what would it be without them?

While watching the P.I. race, I was thinking... "Look, just take ROSSI and his Blue Yamaha out of the scene, and we would have the same Stoner absolute domination we've had since 2007".

Rossi is great and I admire him, but I also love to see some serious competition in the field.
Think that even now, with these 800cc and electronics etc., Stoner still crashes during QP and 3 races in a row, Rossi 12th from the grid and just about wins--but Stoner was too far gone to make the gap

Rossi and his Yamaha have spoilt that potential scene for Stoner this season but have made and are making the whole WC really fascinating and interesting. I think deep down Stoner too likes it better like this. He has recently acknowledged Rossi as the greatest champion ever and the toughest contender he ever met.

Otherwise, we would have to content ourselves with commenting Stoners solo greatness, enjoying his scything through the fields and his final inevitable passes on Pedrobot or others.
Like this instead, thanks to Rossi, it is much better. And we are assured that as long as he races, Stoner will have to be at his very best.

Good call Curve. It takes two to compete and both competitors are as valuable as each other.

Well I agreed with the last thread about Stoner and I fully agree with this one too. Great stuff Curve

Since the inception of the 800's Rossi is the only guy to take it to Casey. What we needed was real competition...yada yada yada

I love these folding mirror threads. My same reply stands for Rossi as well.

The thing is you are dead right, I think a 1 rider domination suxs no matter who it is and another virtuoso on track isn't a bad thing

Very clever curve!

Dont think that is really the idea. Rossi didnt do this on purpose

Have we seen him qualify badly more than a few times? He was running upper-mid pack early in Qatar this year after starting 4th. When you're on pole every week it's tough to come back through the pack.

I predict a riot!

Nooo.... He's right. This thread was so mimetic I didi not realize it wasn't the one I started but a clever clone

Nice, Curve--rest assured I am fully grateful to Stefania and Graziano for giving us Valentino back in 1979... I just felt maybe Casey's importance is in more need to be stressed, that's all.

Its always been better when there has been two ( or more ) protagonists going at it.
IMO it doesn't matter who you want to win, Rossi, Stoner, Hayden or whoever, it always seems a better win if they have had the big fight until the end of the race and not just cleared off and won.
We need Rossi, but we also need the other dudes to really push him. Thats why we all love MotoGP.
I agree with Curve that we could have been in for a very boring season with Kaaaaayyyyyyzzzeeee
winning everything if it was not for the Doctor.

Lets hope that a few of the other guys ( Dovi, Jorge etc ) start consistently pushing up the sharp end next season to make it even more interesting.

I know, but who else has demonstrated this ability in recent years when qualifying goes badly.

elias and de angelis have shown it, as has lorenzo. they may have not come from far back to win, but have carved through the field to high finishing positions. Rossi might be the best at this but he is not the only one who can do it...

“Slightly” An4rew? F1 would be ‘A lot’ more interesting because ‘Without’ Rossi at MotoGP, he would be kicking butts allover F1 too!

Rossi would have retired from F1 by now, or have a life ban for attempting to actually race.
