Julian is one of my favorite commentators by far, he's quite a character.

Anyway this is a good read about Sunday's race at PI.

His assessment is similar to my own. PI is a fantastic track. It is probably one of the only tracks on the entire calendar that I'm glad I won't ever get to race it on a motogp bike. The raw speed of that place is just plain scary.

I think The Island is the best track Moto GP visits. What's the status of the F1 rumors? I'm praying Bernie's circus stays away, as it would mean the end for that great circuit.

I've seen drawings of the proposed changes to Donnington; it isn't pretty.

Melbourne Albert Park just got themselves a new multi-year deal as the season opener. They refused to go night racing but agreed to a 5PM start (which means the race finishes just as dusk sets in).

So PI is safe. It's not fit for F1 anyways in its current state. Dual carriage bridge, rural access roads, no proper pitlane buildings, no massive grandstands. Everything Bernie hates to see at a track!

BTW realise that what Bernie wants for Donnie is not what most F1 fans want for Donnie. Me and my friends don't give a toss about the state of the grandstands or the pitlane building as long as they don't collapse while the weekend is on. We just want a great track, a good race and a lot of clean free toilets.

Love that article, the last three corners Julian refers to is where I choose to sit (and sat on Sunday). Watching the top 7 or so riders come through there is awesome and Casey was in a class of his own. He takes this wider line and accelerates the whole way from turn 10 onto the straight.

Nicki would pull up the inside and slide all over the place and Vale would take the middle, probably more economical than both the other lines.

I'm glad Valentino acknowledged what I'd said from the track, it didn't matter where he started no one was taking that away from Casey.

We were against the fence for morning warm-up at turn 1 where they lean in at 270km/h and head towards southern loop. This must be the fastest right-hander on any racing circuit and the fence is only metres from the track. You feel the wind of the bikes and the raw noise is special. You not only hear the motor but the tyres whine in protest from the sheer forces they endure.

Hell, it was the perfect home gp.
