I like Stoner, IMO the only alien on the grid at the moment, but it would seem he needs to think things thru a little more before making comments. If Hayden was slower this year why does he think that is? All the time he spent on the Ducati he of all people should know they didn't listen to his input, now he thinks they are listening to Hayden when his teammate is Rossi....geez Casey....of course Casey might have ulterior motive in his quote. As far as the on track incident, I think he and Nick will have a chat about it and work it out, Nick isn't one to intentionally block someone.

There can be little doubt that Stoner is on his way to 2011 world champion. He is riding fantastically and consistently on what is a really good bike. Right now - he's got so much going for him - he should just enjoy the glory of where he is and not use his WC standing as a soap box for his whinging. He's going faster and winning more this year than last year because he's really good plus he's on a better performing bike. Nicky is still riding the Duc as fast as ever - and for one lap at Silverstone faster than Stoner. Nicky is not at the top of my riders' list, but one thing is for sure - malicious blocking in practice is not part of his repertoire

Earlier on qualifying day in the final free practice session Stoner and Hayden came across each other on the track with Stoner making an angry hand signal to Hayden. Stoner later claimed that his former teammate Hayden had balked him unnecessarily as he was on a fast lap.

"I had to pick up and back off and get going again," Stoner said. "It is frustrating as hell. I could understand if he accidentally got in my way but that was blatantly on purpose and that frustrated me a fair bit coming from a rider like Nicky, who I had a fair bit of respect for, so it's disappointing."

Oh dear !

Hayden says

"I had nothing to say and nothing to apologize for but if he wants to talk about we can."

I know who i'd put my money on !

I wonder who will be the first rider to end up battering stoner in the paddock?

Dude, they are all a bunch of smurfs," aint nobody battering anybody".

There is not a fighter in the lot. Im guessing they all pretty much fight like Rossi and Biaggi, head tilted back, head turned, and arms flailing. We call them cat fights, or chick fights. You are more libel to get scratched than punched

Casey just needs to realize that he is faster than other riders and he is going to get balked occasionally. He dominated the weekend with pole and race, what else is important. He seems to be incubating a me against the world mentality here lately. That can be good and it can be bad. In Casey's life, i dont think he cares, he has his wife, his family and lots of money. It must be an Aussie thing, Mladin was the same way, he had to hate his competitors and wanted them to hate him back. He stated many time that he was not there to make friends.I dont understand it, i played lots of sports in my day and never needed to hate someone to beat the .... out of them, or never had a want or need to show someone up.

Yeah, we all go to work to earn money first but you only make life harder if you act like a tool and all your work mates hate you. in my personal opinion i look at him as a spoiled brat with a bad attitude. He has little or no respect for his fellow competitors. It does get to him at time that people dis-like him, take the moaning about fans booing him as proof. He make's his work and life harder on himself than it needs to be. He will regret this in life after motogp when the only people who want anything to do with him are the berrymachines and pinkys of this world.

I see a spoiled brat as someone who grew up with a silver spoon stuck up his .... From what i hear, that is not the Stoners background. Didnt they live in a van or some .... like that to finance Casey's career. I think he is a kid who came from nothing, and is so focused on not going back there, that it affects his social well being.Sometimes the drive that allows people like Stoner to come from nothing, turns into a fear of ending up like that again. Driven people can be hard to get along with sometimes.

I don't think this is much of a story. Stoner is obviously having a little dig at Ducati but Nicky clearly wasn't taking it personally. As for the blocking, Nicky clearly mis-judged the situation and Stoner being fired up as ever had a go. The riders really should be more careful about getting out of each others way.

I dont think spoiled brats or people with bad attitudes are unique to rich up-bringing's. New money rich quite often are far worse as people that the old money type.

One thing in the quoted story that stood out to me was casey saing he "had" respect for Nicky. "Had" as in the past tense.

Tom that's easier said than done and I can tell you that from my experience from motocross and BMX racing and that's no where near as fast as road racing, I'm sure several of our regular track day/roadracing folks can attest to how hard it is to stay out of competitors ways while trying to get along with your business.

Stoner definitely counts to the "newly" wealthy (and that is not a bad thing) - his parents did all they could and more to support his early career - including selling up home, spending their savings and for a while living on welfare in a trailer park in UK. Doohan was a good example of the Oz diamond in the rough but he was no whinger and did a lot more for MotoGP than CS has so far acheived. Casey ought to spend just a few $'s on tuning up some basic social graces. Nobody's looking for an angel, pyschophant or showman - just for him to man-up & stop pissing on other riders shoes

That is true, none of use can fathom the pace these cats are riding at, but the fellow competitors should . I didnt see the incident, was Nicky dawdling around the race line and Stoner almost ran over him, or did he just not have the pace and slightly balked him. If your going as fast as you can go, its up to the rider doing the overtaking to make things happen without incident. He seems to think Nicky did something on purpose, or is he paranoid.

its quite funny stoner comments on this....... he was clearly ducati's best rider but like his fans he seems to forget that every season the jap manufacturers get faster where ducati performance wise have hit a brick wall.

the only rider to push the duke to the limit... but has he forgotten already that a few times when being chased and hes had to push he the front end just cant take it.

and dont start peddling ........ about the ducati would be top of timesheets if he was still there... better than rossi is doing but he would been killed by the honda guys.

I think Stoner would be about where Rossi is in points if he were still at Ducati. The difference would be that Stoner would be fighting for higher positions and wins, while tossing it down the road on occasion, whereas Rossi is gathering points riding around 5-7th.

I think that's a very mis-guided and narrow-minded point of view. Rossi and the ducati team are not out there just to gather points this season. There trying to build a championship contending bike. Throwing down the road is no help in that cause.
