Stoner "we need to get cracking because there's not a lot of test time before the start of next year"

for Rossiofsky ...... ?

or does this mean something worthy of serious discussion ..........?

ie. [sub]will Honda provide[/sub] ?
<

I hope they don't get too anxious to change things. I fear there may be a subtle relationship between what Stoner feels is 'right' and the chronic front end issues he suffered when riding the Duc.

when he front ends nxt year as much as he did this year

he can say we didnt have time to get the peddler bike sorted for my styleeee

Dani Pedrosa issues engine warning to Casey Stoner

By Matthew Birt -

MotoGP

17 November 2010 16:16

Dani Pedrosa warned Casey Stoner not to get too carried away after the Australian’s sensational factory Honda debut in Valencia earlier this month.

Stoner raved about the smooth engine performance of the RC212V machine after he finished a close second to Jorge Lorenzo in the first test ahead of the 2011 MotoGP world championship.

But Pedrosa had a cautious word for his new Repsol team-mate, the Spaniard still frustrated by Honda’s failure to make its V4 contender easier to manage.

Pedrosa, who finished fifth fastest in the Valencia test, said: “I don't know how the Ducati is, but compard to the Yamaha we are still too aggressive both on acceleration and deceleration.

"Our bike is moving a lot because of the engine and we still have to work on that. Casey’s experience with the Honda is very low. He hasn't it raced it yet so compared to the Ducati he felt the difference. I know how difficult it is to manage the power delivery for the whole race where he was only doing short runs. I tried a new engine in Valencia but it is still too aggressive in the way it delivers the power.”

let the .... flinging begin

Interesting comments from Pedrosa...I think I might have played my cards a little closer to vest and not said anything.

I wonder if Casey will have a retort....surely not.

That whole comment from Pedrosa, smacks of him not wanting Honda to listen to Stoner. Dani obviously wants something different than he has now, and if Stoner is raving about how he loves the power delivery, Pedro is worried that change, or lack of, will not be to his liking.

Sounds rather like the screamer engined Ducati to me..is the RCV screamer equipped??

i think yes

no surprise pedrosa wants smooth, i remember that he always had a little more midrange torque and smoother power mapping compared to nickys who preferred more top end power.

i don't know if nickys attitude towards engine mappings has changed considering that he was happy to go big bang (at least this year),but just based on my gut feeling (sorry i can't give you evidence for that now) about stoners style i expect that stoner wants the engine even more powerful with less regard to smoothness. i can very well imagine that stoners jaw dropped when he realized that there are bikes that go just as fast as the duc but not half as vicious

D'oh! you weren't actually supposed to post here guys .......... the silence was supposed to show Rossiofsky what "no panic" looks like in reality

Some nice points anyway though.

It is hardly a massive surprise that pedrosa wants the bike tailored to his needs cf lorenzo and rossi at yamaha. I think he will lose the argument if smoothing the engine involves reducing the power/acceleration/speed of the honda particularly if casey is untroubled by the engine as it is though; honda are famously engineering led and I can't see their engineers going for that.

with reference to other recent discussions I personally am waiting for stoner to win next year or at least beat rossi in a championship again before reading to much into the results of one day of testing, positive though that test may have been from the stoner viewpoint.

Mmm. A little downplaying of Stoner's results - maybe it's the start of Dani feeling threatened or at least the first visible sign.

I still don't think they should engineer the bike for Stoner. He will be fast whatever they give him so if they engineer for the midget to win (remembering that he was blindingly quick at times last season), I think that's all they need to do. It won't hold Stoner back.

I wouldn't read too much into Dani's statements. He's always been honest when giving assessments so those weren't exactly subliminal attacks to Stoner.

Either way i stnad by what i said when i first heard CS was going to the big H Stoner= 2011 champ

Enjoy it while it lasts Jorge coz it aint gonna last!!

Pedro has trouble handeling the bike over the course of the race because he isn't physically strong enough and bike breaks him down. If he added a little muscle/weight he might find that he can handle the bike at 100% throughout the whole race.

I don't know Sack, he managed to wrestle a 990 around pretty well. It might come down to injuries Dani has suffered since competing in the premier class the dude has been dinged up more than not?

i think people are wrong when they refer to taming the big 990s. those things are actually a bit lighter than the current mandatory weight for the 800s

i'd think it'd be easier to ride a 990 because you don't need to corner as hard and the bike is actually lighter and having a nicer engine is always great and not more demanding

Back in the good ole days you didnt have a Playstation under the seat to straighten everything out if ya didn thave enough respect with your right hand!

I think i remember even Jorge saying his 250 was a harder beast to ride

sure bro but the electronic safety net doesnt change the g force
<

put it this way : a f1 driver has to withstand enormous acceleration, braking and cornering .now although those cars are not as hard to operate as manual shifter cars form the 60s i'm pretty sure its quite exhausting to be onboard such a hell of a machine :)

i think the increase in corner speed and ever harder braking makes motogp more physically demanding than ever to be honest! (maybe aside the modern clutches, that must have been real work a few decades back)

I know what you mean, though I suspect not many would agree with you. I think the biggest problem for acceptance is that the showrooms don't have many 800cc sportbikes
<

I do think that the 800's are in favour of a younger rider though.

I'd love to see the top MGP class as an open class for anything over 750cc. Then over the next few years, the teams would then sort out which capacity is the fastest.

And it would also evolve with development as well.
