Practice and Qualifying discussion. If someone wants to start a race only discussion, great.

Rossi was BSing to the Spanish press about making that infamous 2005 pass on Jorge. He said he'd do it again, but I think the threat is nearly as good as the pass.

Can Stoner keep the bike on track? I believe he went off track last year at the end of the back straight. If I remember he gave a dirty look to someone, can't remember who it was.

Lorenzo was amazing last year in qualifying, but that was with the magic Quali tires. Can he repeat his Motegi performance?

Will Pedrosa be fit? His rocket start at Motegi made up for a mediocre qualifying. If he gets pole, he could check out.

If memory serves me well Stoner a few short weeks ago decimated the field on a hot lap that he finished waving merrily to his crew as he crossed the start/finish line. I think he may just stay on track.

FP1 starts @ 8am here and I'll be staring wide eyed to see how it goes tea in hand.

bradley's been hot through out all fp1 no probs and the bike looks like its on rails
& redding in 5th at the mo

Bradley Smith is top qualifier in the last session - jeez he looks like the world's tallest 9 year old. Moto GP practice starts in 10 minutes. Sun is shining.

looks like rossi still in the pits no1 bike wont start he onto the number 2

Pedrosa out now almost alone on the track. So far no-one has bested his lap record from last year.

With 15' to go Rossi is leading the field with 0.780 on Lorenzo. He is the only rider at the moment hammering lap times below 1.40. Edwards, Stoner and Dovi follow Lorenzo, all within a few tenths.

Update--With 10' left Stoner takes second place in front of Lorenzo lapping in 1.40.2 at 0.428 from Rossi.

With 7' to go Rossi laps in 1.39.647 increasing the gap with Stoner in 2nd place to 0.621.

With 1' left Capirossi cloks 1.40.011 taking 2nd place at 0.364 from Rossi.

That seems the end of this Fp1:

Rossi 1.39.647
Capirossi +0.364
Stoner +0.621
Lorenzo +0.794
Dovi +0.954
Edwards +1.056

I second off the jerez test pace. I am not sure how to interpret the practice times anymore, but being consistently in the 1' 39'' range when nobody else is cannot be bad for valentino.

dont forget that he's got hayden duties now. being the test mule and forced to run the 09 chassis, that nobody else likes, at your home gp cant be good for morale...that being said, its probably still a waste anyway.
