Spies looking for excuses before season even start

you know #41, when james went to motogp, there wasnt any real high expectations for him to be a contender for a podiumplace either. its not an excuse, it is a fact that when you have never raced on a certain track, it takes time to learn it... when no one has raced there, the chances are equal, but when other riders have raced there before, they have an advantage.

Thats a valid excuse, he'll be racing around tracks he's never raced on before while his rivlas will know them like the back of their hand. At places like Miller and Donington he'll show his true talent as he has ridden round them before.

Cheap excuses.

That's not an excuse, it's a fact.

But Spies is so good according to American forumers here, he's new Messiah on 2 wheels so unknowing track isn't excuses for him. He must destroy all WSBK field next season. If not myth about "next MotoGP big thing" will start to be wan.

well Im sure the americans here are rooting for every american rider like they could be the next world champ. guess what, Im rooting for hugo van den bergh and Im SURE he's better than rossi.

Hugo who, you say??
<
exactly my point. he is/was a rider in the 125cc and the only dutch rider in the motogp world. Im sure he could be the bestest ever. he's my hope in very, very dark times in our dutch motorcycling history

we all know here that Ben spies obviously has talent. you must agree, right, otherwise he could never have gotten a ride next season in wsbk. we all cant look into the future, unfortunatly, so what we're all doing is hoping our favourite rider does great. I want hugo to win the championship, which is very unlikely to happen...
<
we'll just see what happens and till then just share our expectations about it all. believe it or not, but I actually agree with you that Ben Spies would not be better on the motogp suzuki than chris V or capirossi, eventhough he was impressive in doni etc this season. but I dont crush the hopes of those who want to see him win it
<
everything is possible in racing
<

I read the whole article, Ben seems a really nice guy.

I hope he does well next season (but not at the expense of the Brits
<
).

What are you smoking? I would bet money on it that Spies would do better than both and in his forst year. I may have a bit of national pride in there, but how much evidence do you need?

I'm not the biggest fan of Spies. Being an American, obviously I'd like to see him win but I would much rather root for someone else (although it was nice seeing him beat Mladin for a few years). Frankly I don't really read into what 41 posts because most of it is twisted rubbish anyways and this case is no different. Anyone who has ever followed a rider who has changed series and went to new tracks knows it takes time to adapt to the different circuits and the atmosphere and there's no exception for Spies. Especially considering he's only slightly less of a good ol' boy than Hayden is. And the one comparison between Hayden and Spies is their beating of Mladin. Hayden did it once while the Honda RC51 was a superior bike while Spies did it three times on equal machinery. Given Hayden's pedigree, that shows me something.

and I would want to make that bet too, sackwack

I just dont believe he could be a real podium contender or even could do better than someone like chris V (who is a wsbk champ) or capirossi (with all his experiences)I say ben S will end up around place 8-10 just like the current riders, if not worse, at the end of his first season in motogp.

doesnt mean I wouldnt want to see him have succes, keep that in mind
<
I would love to be wrong, but Im pretty sure he wont be better...

I'm sorry Mari, I hate to pick on you but Vermeulen never won the WSBK championship. He was runner up on a couple of occasions and a WSS champion but never got the SBK crown.

It seems to be a common misconception,But Chris V never won a WSBK title,he won a WSS title.

If he comes in 8th he will do better (or tie if you want to get technical) than both of them

Mari, why bother to reply?...he's not interested in a serious debate, his threads are simply a vehicle for more of his anti American diatribe so why light the fuse? As a moderator it would make your life a hell of a lot easier if we doused the flames by ignoring these threads as opposed to stoking the fire of his inflammatory comments.

lol supersport champ then and runner up
<
my bad, sorry guys

yeah 8th is a tie, which isnt better. he needs to get top 7
<
and with rossi, stoner, pedrosa, hayden, kalio, dovizioso, de angelis, lorenzo and maybe even james T being there...

Why? Top ten would be good IMO, especially on the Suzuki. Of course his time has come and gone for the Suzi and it has been popular consensus that Suzi f-ed up bad. Chris V and Capi to be outside the top 10 this year.

I still think your smoken...hot...and crack

Spies would be a failure. Thanks God that Denning put riders quality well above Suzuki's interests at American market.

top 10 would be very impressive! but you said you think ben spies would be better than chris v and capirossi. top ten is iqual as chris v and capirossi since they were 8th and 10th this season
<
so to be better he has to be 7th or better, which I dont see happening, unfortunatly for him...

I dont know if suzuki made a wrong decision. he is in wsbk now, he has the chance to learn more tracks. doesnt capi's contract ends after next season? maybe they're going to give ben s the ride then. who knows...

and btw, Im not smoking anything
