Gaz....I don't hate Americans or American riders....I think most are over rated...

On the Suzuki topic, Hopper certainly overrated and unless he delivers for Kawasaki next year he will just become even more has been. Capirossi missed his only shot at the title in 2006, thanks to Gibernau, and should have retired at the back enf of last year. I don't think you would have wanted Spies to take his ride on that bike... CV, certainly not living up to expectations and is on his way to being another Hopper

In my view Ben is overrated so far....I don't think he's really proven anything. He did well in Indy so what, lets see him ride at Mugello, Cataluyna, PI, or Valencia on a wild card ride. We can then see if can show up the rest of the field not just Capi and Vermy. Let's also see how well he does in WSBK against Haga (D), Biaggi (A), Corser (

, Xaus (

, and Max N (S) in a proper Racing series with Rules that do give you points for winning Superpole or practice or give you bonus points for being lap leader, but you get points for where you finish the race only!

In short, let see Ben race at world class level in Super bikes for a year and then let's make our minds up before we decide he is the next Valentino!

Migs, twas not me who suggested that you may have an issue with Americans as my post was more regarding whether Spies was genuine about getting a Suzuki MGP ride or whether he may have been 'using' Suzuki to get recognition of a manufacturer who has a competitive MGP machine.

On teh subject of over-rated though, I do feel that a number of riders enter classes 'hyped' as though they will be some sort of savior for the sport, but sadly the ability may not match the hype in all situations and the results are plain. Infuriatingly however, many of these riders will then move to other pastures and seemingly dominate which just leaves one scratching their respective heads.

But as I have said elsewhere, the ability to produce results does rely on a feeling of comfort within the team dynamic, without it riders cannot achieve their best results (IMO).

No worries Gaz...the funny thing I am an American, but unlike other Yanks on this board I do not support my country's riders blindly....

However, Spies will get his chance and then we shall see what he is made of....

Personaly, I think one the most amazing underrated riders of the last 10 years has been shafted more than any other by politics in favor of under acheiving hyped up rider like Hopper.....and his name is McCoy!

So damn agree it is not funny as I always believed that McCoy had more than enough ability, talent and sheer drive to succeed in the big class, but sadly he just did not have (IMO) the media profile that made it difficult for a team to 'drop' him. Instead he was a quiet achiever who went about his business day in and day out yet did not big note himself, nor did he have PR people to do it for him.

I sometimes wonder if he ever realised or thought about hos good he is/was?
