Suzuki exempt from rookie rule.
<

Suzuki needs new blood on the machine. The current riders have done all they can. Thanks to Capper for his hard work and I'd like to see him stay on with the team somehow. CV just isn't putting it together in a way that would see him on the podium.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (SuperShinya56 @ May 3 2009, 02:36 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>That 'rookie rule' is probably the most ridiculous thing I've heard of in motorsports racing.
It is yet another example of dorna's inability to think through their rule changes/make consistent and enforceable rules. Suzuki now would seem have a disincentive to ever set up a satellite team when the aim of the rookie rule is reputedly to promote satellite teams.

Exerpt from Bautista article, "Like Bautista, Vermeulen is keen to remain on satellite equipment, and at the moment, there are appear to be very few factory seats open."

WTF?

Is Kropotikin on drugs?

Rookie rule is one more indicator of how farcical Dorna's decisions and decision making process are.

Dorna need to have rule freeze for the next few years...

Prediction:

Jorge joins Repsol Honda
Pedrosa replaces Loris at Suzuki
Edwards to Fiat Yamaha
Simoncelli to Tec 3 or Gresini
Bautista to 3rd Suzuki or 5th Yamaha

I would be seriously surprised if Edwards moved back up.

I think Suzuki may want to entice Ben Spies back, it depends on how well Yamaha treat him and the size of the Suzuki carrot.

And whos to say that Repsol aren`t watching Mr De Puniet and Melandri`s progress at the moment? But like the topic says............

Dorna need new management, preferably by people who understand motorsport imo.
as some of you have said, this is yet another example of there incompetence when thinking through rule changes.

My bet is Lorenzo will stay put.

Can`t see him moving either, just needs to mature a little more and I`m sure he is future champ material.C`mon Jorge mature like a fine bottle of JD.

I dont doubt that al all mate

The lad is still learning his trade on the big stuff. He's fast he's tough and unlike some of the other fast riders on the grid jorge can battle he way through the field. The ingredients of a champ

So is it safe to assume that the "factory ride" Vermeulen has been offered is in WSBK? Will the Vermeulen to Xerox Ducati rumors finally come true?

Jorge takes Pedrosa's spot at Repsol Honda.
Spies takes Lorenzo's spot at Fiat Yamaha (Rookie Rule is thrown out.)
Pedrobot is scrapped and his electronics are used in the new Ducati GP10.

One can dream right?

Hmmm...........interesting.

Jorge to Repsol seems likely since he would be attracted by the enormous payday. Whether or not Honda would allow it is another story, Lorenzo hasn't exactly set the world on fire. Plus, Lorenzo and Dovi on the same team!!!!!!!!!!!

I do think Pedrosa is going to Suzuki next year or possibly Kawasaki with Melandri. Bautista to Suzuki or Kawasaki.

Hayden is going to get the boot, Simoncelli is going to take his spot.

Spies will be on a Yam next season, as will Hopper. I think both will end up at Tech3 and Edwards will get promoted back to FIAT for 1 last hurrah b/c Rossi will demand it. Hopper will end up with Tech3 because he brings Monster with him. Spies will have a sponsor by 2010.

What will happen to Hayden is the interesting question. He may take an honorable job with a nice Japanese company to ride at Gresini with full factory support in place of Elias who is accomplishing nothing. Vermeulen will join him. They will be good teammates.

DeAngelis gets booted to WSBK. Elias goes back to Pramac to work with Kallio. Cannepa replaces Fabrizio

Toseland takes Spies' seat at Yamaha Italia.

Takahashi is forced to commit sepuku for wrecking the last Honda world champ. Aoyama takes his place.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (mylexicon @ May 4 2009, 09:47 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Pedrosa will have 3 options: Yamaha, Suzuki, Gresini Honda (Elias replacer). Howewver, him getting Suzuki may depend on whether they take Bautista as 3rd bike and what happens to CV. Loris is obviously out.
Colin will be at Yamaha as Spies placeholder.
Randy gets a factory Honda but stays with LCR. Kallio to Marlboro.
Barbara to Pramac.
Simoncelli will likely be a 4/5th yamaha, as he is in line to replace Rossi.

If Dovi can work with Pedro...

Hayden is going to get the boot, Simoncelli is going to take his spot.
Simoncelli will never take that ride. Ever.

Spies will not leave WSBK without winning the championship. He can't do it this year...

I know for a fact Nicky has a two year deal with Ducati. Even if they break his MotoGP contract, they may have some options written for WSBK. Nicky is not welcome back at Honda and Yamaha don't need him. Hopper will not get back into GP's. Spies has little chance at MAJOR sponsorhip

DeAngelis gets booted to WSBK. Elias goes back to Pramac to work with Kallio. Cannepa replaces Fabrizio
if DeAngelis gets booted, Simoncelli is likely to take his place. Cannepa will get another year. Elias will probably improve or try WSBK. Hey will not go back to Ducati. The bike really is ....

Toseland takes Spies' seat at Yamaha Italia.
JT, may hang around longer than he deserves and Spies isn't leaving

Melandri will get factory support and stay with Kwak next year.

I do see Kawasaki returning for next season. I never saw their withdrawl as a long term thing. No knowing on a smaller budget and no development and a great rider, they have a great thing going.

Moving up from 250cc I see Bautista (as the champion) and Simmoncelli.

I see Spies taking Toseland's seat and Toseland moving back to WSBK.

Other than those moves I see 2010's line up to be about this:

Fiat Yamaha Team:
46 - Valentino Rossi
99 - Jorge Lorenzo

Ducati Marlboro Team
27 - Casey Stoner
69 - Nicky Hayden

Repsol Honda Team
3 - Dani Pedrosa
4 - Andrea Dovizioso

Rizla Suzuki MotoGP
65 - Loris Capirossi
19 - Alvaro Bautista

Monster Yamaha Tech 3
5 - Colin Edwards
11 - Ben Spies

San Carlo Honda Gresini
24 - Toni Elias
7 - Chris Vermeulen

LCR Honda MotoGP
14 - Randy De Puniet

Scot Racing Team MotoGP
72 - Yuki Takahasi

Pramac Racing
36 - Mika Kallio
15 - Sete Gibernau

Kawasaki MotoGP
33 - Marco Melandri
58 - Marco Simmoncelli

Sounds good except they can't put simoncelli on marlboro due to the new rules. Kallio would have to slide up to hayden's spot and simoncelli onto pramac. Simoncelli could still get the factory support under a pramac fairing, with kallio being left out to dry with a factory livery on a satellite interior, which is such an obvious loophole on the rookie rule I wonder why dorna even bothered.

Aoyama looks very impressive.

Toseland has ~4 years maximum in GP before bradley smith is of age and then toselands token brit card expires. I thought toseland would be out sooner than later but johnny rea is looking streaky, although haslem is putting it together. Replacing a wsbk champ with a 3rd-5th place man in haslem is a logic meltdown, however. But so was giving hayden repsol over edwards, and that worked out.

Keep on dreaming buddy.... it's Hiroshi Aoyoma who's going to be 250cc Champion in 2009.
