Show some Respect to Rossi

It makes me sick to hear bad things said about this man. A rider like him doesn't come along often. Even if he never wins a race again he still will be the best. The rivals have come and gone. He has beaten them all. They cry when he pushes to hard like Stoner did at Laguna Seca. That's how you win Championships by pushing the limit even when you have a slow bike. So what if he didn't win on a Ducati he's still the best. He has made Motogp more exciting than any other rider before him. I am not saying you have to like him but at least respect him for what he has accomplished.

Rossi is still my fave.  He is arguably the most important amabassador to the sport.  But the best?  Maybe if electronics disappeared.  Otherwise, Stoner was on another level.  Jorge can click off fast and consistent laps too.  When everything is working right, those guys usually check out and it's just a fight for 2nd.  Rossi is probably the best dog fighter tho.  I love to watch the man make passes.  Hopefully he's got his brakes squared away.

Rossi never showed his significant opponents any respect.  Biaggi, Gibbers, Stoner, Lorenzo; all were all relentlessly demonized, much to the delight of the Yellow Hordes.  Why shouldn't Karma repay the debt?

Was the best... was. No longer. Just like when your acne cleared up, you were no longer the pizza-face king.

.........  This is all fanboi opinion.  He is not the best.  He had a run with significant political and equipment advantages against average competition.  This turned into multiple championships.  If he had to do it the same as everyone else he would never have been so successful.  His time at Ducati just shows he was just like everyone else when they didn't have an equipment advantage.  Right now against worthy competitors on equal equipment he is where he rightfully should be, back in 4th or 5th.

Just because you are like some love sick nerd in love with the hottest babe in school doesn't mean the rest of us have to beat off over him as well.  Grow up for .... sake.

Would you be so kind as to elaborate which championship, exactly, he won with a slow bike? Would that be the factory Honda 500 with Doohan's crew? Or was it with the RC211V, arguably the greatest grand-prix motorcycle of all time? Or would it be the 2004 M1? You know, the one where Yamaha gave him a handful of engine and chassis options to choose from, costing the brand millions upon millions—not to mention that it was service never extended to Biaggi or Barros.

It seems to me Valentino only spent two seasons on sub-par machinery in his career in the premier class, producing results that were marginally, if at all, better than what we've seen from the likes of Hayden and Dovizioso.

For clarification's sake, this isn't to say Rossi's undeserving of his championships, but to say that he won anything on a slow motorcycle is naive bordering on ill-informed.

In fact Dovi led a gp  and fought for the win this year, something the clown never did in two years on that bike.

But Stoner whoops/whooped/is whooping Rossi,s untalented arse!!!!!

Though that's not why folk don't "respect" Rossi, they don't respect him because he is not and never has been anything near the best. He just attract the most rabidlyidiotic delusional fans hence brings in bucket loads of easy money for dorna .......... in whom's favour it is to feed the sheep, regardless of rossis lack of actual talent.

Matter of fact I once saw video of rossi backing it in ......... and he was just doing kids skids, I think even I could beat rossi' and i'm only moderately highly talented!!!

Before I say anything, I have to say I am a huge Rossi fan, and look to his past as being great and whatnot.  But like others have said, that was the past.  I still believe that overall i think rossi is the best racer of all time, racer but not necessarily the fastest.  Basically the total package.

BUT, people are entitled to their own opinion, thats what makes this forum great.  Now I admit some of the time some people don't respect others opinions, and instead insult the other person.  But you cannot just go ahead and have people censor what they believe about Rossi.

I think Rossi is shown enough respect in the motogp world and you probably shouldn't care what a bunch of people post online so much just because they have a different opinion than you.
