Should Yamaha put the new engine in now?

From the reports I've read it's reliable and very fast, and we know Brno is a bhp circuit, so should Yamaha risk it? It's not as if they have THAT much to lose.

even though itis a bhp circuit ( duc won last year ) i think that yamaha cannot afford to give any points away to Ducati in this second half of the season.

This part of the season usually favours the red machine and the way they are running this year any points given away by rival teams could be disasterous.

I would like to see the new engine and you never know, michelin have had 4 weeks off too ,i know teams cannot test over the break but they might be back to full strength.

Also ducati have a new fairing to test straight after Brno.

IMO yamaha should wait until after Brno or maybe just have 1 machine with the new engine.

From what I hear of the Duke's new fairing, it's solely for Stoner as he despises the effect the win has on his bike, he's even been begging for it since pre-season!

Mate you complain about Casey whinging and that we aussies are one-sided ... but I can honestly say that I have never ever heard Casey "despise the effect the win has on his bike" ... he loves it when he wins (and so do I)

I think they could try the new engine in with Colin Edwards at Brno and see how he goes, Rossi can still win without the better engine anyway.

Yamaha wont run the new engine until the tests on the Monday after Brno IMO.. Time will tell though.. Depends how desperate they are..

it's no use using a more powerful engine if michilin can handle the current bike, it may make things worse, but if michilin get there act together then i say yeah go for it !

they'll be tryin it for the race during practice. i think they will use the new engine if rossi can't blow it up during the early p sessions.

exactly. when the tires are on, rossi can win by a margin (assen, mugello). the bike doesn't need more power. it would be nice, but it isn't what's slowing rossi down. same bike, michelin's that grip from the start of the race and last until the final lap and we would hopefully have some more exciting races.

Maybe a faster engine will allow Rossi to give the tyres a marginal rest in the turns. If that can make the difference at the end of the race he might have the tyre left to challange.
