Shane remains in the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital under observation for a range of injuries. The BSB Medical Team have been liaising closely with Shane’s family and the hospital regarding his condition. A surgical procedure to stabilise spinal fractures is planned for the beginning of next week, with treatment for other injuries planned thereafter. Further updates will be provided post surgery.

According to a post by Shanes wife, his operation today was successful and his spine is safe but he has a long recovery for his neck and ...... bone to heal.

To be honest Barry, I hope he decides to call it a day. Nowt else to prove at BSB and quite a popular pundit when called upon. I think he realises, although an extensive list of injuries, he has got away with one here. When a doc asks why aren't you paralised, you know you got lucky.

It must have been a monumental smash to log up that list of injuries, either that or the bike landed on top of him

Wouldnt take me any more hints.

Surely they are lifetime injuries too, hes going to feel many of those for years to come.

He came and saw me after my last off, I didn't have half what he's just had and I said I'm calling it a day. I somehow doubt he'll race again and I imagine his wife will have something to say about it.

Can't believe he is still smiling in the recent pictures on twitter. Apparently when he was taken in he was told it could have been heart attack or blood clot on lungs.

But "thankfully" it's "only" pneumonia.

..... I hope he is alright. I don't want to sound like Dr Doom, but pneumonia can be bad juju. Fingers crossed for him.

Shakey had a scan yesterday and his neck still hasn't healed properly and he might need another operation early next year.
