i just can't stand that little man that looks like a roll-on deoderant tube, and who calls himself the wallabies captain

james ellison describes the conditions in sepang:

We've got three races in three weeks now - Malaysia, Australia, and Japan - and I think Malaysia is physically the toughest of the lot.

Not as a test of strength, but because it's so hot and sticky. Every day, like clockwork, there's a thunderstorm.

You have to keep going for intravenous drips to keep your minerals and salts levels up - you need to keep on top of that religiously.

After this humidity, it'll be freezing cold in Australia, then back to red-hot heat in Japan.

This is when people pick up colds and flu coming from air-conditioned rooms to freezing cold and hot conditions, so anything could happen now as the title race is coming down to the last few races.

With five races remaining, five people are still in the hunt for the title, and that's how it should be.

But I can't enjoy it at all, because I know I should be up there with them.

I'm not bothered about the new chassis now, I've got what I've got and I've got to put up with it

I know what I can do, that's the frustrating thing. I've beaten people like Chris Vermuelen before in other classes.

I know that when I've got an equal opportunity and equal machinery to other people in the class, it's in there and I can do it - but this year has been a real struggle.

I got on fine with the 2005 bike but I'm a bit disappointed with what they've done to the balance for 2006.

I explained that and they said "this is how it is, you've got to get on with it".

I've been trying to get on with but I've never been able to ride it as well as the 2005 bike, neither have the others but they've had the chance on something else which has been a big improvement on the 2006 bike, which I haven't.

I'm not bothered about the new chassis now, I've got what I've got and I've got to put up with it.

There's no point moaning, I've been given the chance to ride the bike in the first place it's very disappointing not to be given something I know will improve me.

I haven't a clue where I'm going to be next season, that's part of the problem.

If you know where you're going you've got something to work towards, but it's not so easy to concentrate when your future hangs in the balance.

We're trying our best to stay where we are, because that's what we want, but, just in case, my managers are looking at other options.

They're not speaking to anyone but it takes a lot of pressure off me so I can do the best I can.

This is the first year I've had on a GP bike, I just need another shot and I hope I get it.

Could the Sepang grid be illegal? Same as crash.net they signaled that this order set could be illegal..

Capirossi: It was too dangerous.
"The Race Direction took the correct decision to cancel qualifying because the conditions were too bad," said Capirossi. "Although the track was dry in some places, the water was deep in other areas of the track where the ground was so waterlogged that it couldn't absorb the rain. We do over 300km/h at this circuit, so to ride in these conditions would have been too dangerous."

Sete Gibernau:"That was a really tough qualifying session, I'm totally beat!" joked the Spaniard. "But seriously, this morning wasn't so bad, we were in the leading pack until a few guys threw in qualifiers, but I didn't use one. The race is going to be physically hard, because I'm a little out of shape and I can't really stress the bone. I've not been able to ride a bike for a couple of months, so I need all the sessions I could get because riding is my training! My goal is to try and finish the race, I can do four or five laps not so bad, then I start struggling"

Kenny Roberts Jr:"I went to the safety meeting, and everybody said it was too dangerous. I didn't go out in the safety car, but everybody's pretty intelligent round here, and you could see the spray from the car how much water there was," he said, before identifying drainage as the issue.
"I think they are going to work on the drainage tonight. It doesn't look like it's working at the top part of the track, where the water is running across the track. They were pulling mud out from there. A torrential downpour is one thing, but after it's over and it's postponed for 15 minutes, then those rivers should stop," he explained. "The rest of the track is quite dry now. That's just one more thing that we need to learn from this, in the riders' Safety Commission, and from the organisation side... that the first thing you do at any circuit is clean the drains out."

Harald Eckl."I just hope that the rain doesn't return tomorrow, as it would not be good for MotoGP if we had to abandon the race because of the same problem we experienced with water running across the track today," warned Kawasaki team manager Harald Eckl.

Velentino Rossi "I don't know if it is harder to go and ride in those conditions or stand around waiting for two hours in your leathers!" joked Rossi on Saturday afternoon. "Seriously though the safety was the most important issue today - there was a lot of water on the track and the conditions were very bad. At two or three points it was like a river running across the surface and the water was very deep.
"As a member of the MotoGP Safety Commission I spoke with Race Direction and I also went down pit-lane to chat with the other riders and we all agreed that the best thing was to not ride, not just because of the water but also the limited vision. You couldn't even see turn one at one point! I think that shows everybody is sensible and the situation has changed from ten years ago - the riders now have more power over these situations and that is a good thing," he added

LOL Katt! Yeh i know what ya mean!

Hes gotta be kidding surely? Claiming hes better than Vermeulen and claiming all he needs is equal machinery, my arse!

Checa has convincingly beaten Ellison every race this year, even when theyve been on the same chassis..

Say bye bye to GP in 07 James, and hello to whatever you can find, most likely BSB, or some crap like that...

^ I like BSB..its good fun, you are probaly right that JE is on his way out though.

I watched the after interviews and is it me or has Sete lost a load of weight??? I know he's been off etc etc but his face looked drawn.

i like BSB too thankyou very much and where does he claim he's better than vermeulen?? read a little closer and he actually says he's beaten him in other classes before. he makes no claim to be better

They should really have run the qualifying on sunday morning instead of the warm up.. you have to think that most of the riders won't have been giving it everything in free practice

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>Chris Vermeulen and Rizla Suzuki team manager Paul Denning were left with unanswered questions after the decision to abandon Saturday's qualifying session at Sepang, then use free practice lap times to decide grid positions for the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Qualifying was delayed for two hours by heavy rain, and then cancelled - even though the rain had stopped and dry patches were appearing - because the amount of standing water on parts of the track was deemed too dangerous.

However Vermeulen, who will now start just 16th on the grid, wants to know why no riders personally examined the track before the decision was made.

"We weren't really trying to do the fast laps and I didn't use a qualifier like some of the riders did this morning because it wasn't a qualifying session! So because of that I am a long way back on the grid," began the young Australian, who took a wet pole position in Turkey. "But what surprises me is that maybe the track is not in the best condition at the moment, but what if it rains tomorrow? I'm sure Valentino and others won't be pushing for the race to be stopped. I'm not saying he had any involvement today but nobody even went out to see what it was like. Safety does come first but no rider went out there, not even in a safety car, so how can we say what it would have been like!"

Vermeulen's team-mate John Hopkins will start from the third row, in eighth position, after also feeling penalised for not running a qualifying tyre in the morning.

"Safety is a very important thing but it's a shame we never got to ride because as it stands now I'm going to be starting from eighth, when I'm sure in qualifying it would have been higher," he said. "Some of the riders in front of me used qualifiers this morning and I just concentrated on my race set-up so I was penalised really. But we know that we can do the times and race well, so come rain or shine we will be ready!"

"First of all the cancellation of the qualifying session was massively disappointing in terms of both rider's grid positions, and the fact that we couldn't continue the excellent progress we had made this morning," stated Denning. "We understand that Race Direction's decision about grid positions was a difficult one to make, in that there is nothing in the rule book to clarify this situation - it's clear that there should be for the future.

"Secondly it hasn't worked out very fairly in that many riders used qualifying tyres this morning, whereas others - our guys included - concentrated on race set-up and tyre testing. We would have liked to have seen an extended warm-up tomorrow morning to include a qualifying session. This is grand prix racing and the guys take big risks on the Saturday in qualifying, so I don't see why that risk couldn't be on Sunday morning before the race.

"Anyway, it is what it is and both our guys will be going full out to improve significantly on their grid positions in tomorrow's race!" he concluded.

its true, its not a fair grid line up ... but i guess its outta their hands now

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Morgo @ Sep 9 2006, 12:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Dr, If we go off last practice times rossi would still be in front! He had fastest time on race tyres of 2min 2.055 in FP3 which would be LAST practice anyway! Smart idea like hayden, capper etc used QP tyres. you should be happy anyway cause if it were off LAST fp times dani would be starting from last cause of leg. He would be happy with 5th
someone has already put on here what should have happend, and run the qualifing practice in the morning, instead of the warm up,then everybody is happy, and none of this figure juggling.
