Rossi's bad starts

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (roger-m @ Jul 5 2008, 01:40 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>as i said in post #35.

Who knows the secret of the red bikes? Watching Rossi chase Scud proved that the Dukes are very fast.

It could be as simple as set up that is the issue. I remember, in the mid 90s, (dont recall the exact year )reading that Biaggi, (on the 250 Aprilia) used a much sharper steering angle than anyone else on the bike. The team said at the time that until his team mate (cant remember, and I dont google) could run with the same steering angle as Biaggi, he wouldnt win races.

Or, it could be that Casey has no 1 status (quite rightly) and gets the best bits first.

Or he may be a god like genius on a bike.

I dont think anyone who has watched a GP would argue that the Ducati/Stoner package is awesome, and the way he streaks off, and passes so easily makes it look like he has some kind of advantage.

Maybe he does, maybe he doesnt.

My problem with Stoner is his "toys out of the pram antics" when someone follows him. Or beats him. Or out qualifies him.

As Ive always said, it's the bike AND Stoner that are so formidable. Just smile sometimes ya miserable wee git!

Fair enough. If fair minded people such as you give him respect for his race performances, no-one should insist you have to like him.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Frizzle @ Jul 5 2008, 06:29 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Ok ok ok - enough with the poor Marco everyone.
He is making .... loads riding a supposedly superior motorcycle at the rear of the field week in week out. Now which is it to be here? Is the bike a piece of .... and poor Marco has to ride it, or is it superior to the Yamaha like so many here say? In which case nobody should be feeling sorry for the guys at the back that under performing on the Ducati.

You can't say the bike has a performance advantage over the field and then say poor Marco because he has to ride it. Because if Stoner was riding the thing around 3 seconds a lap behind the leaders, you would be saying " See he is crap "

There is some serious double standards going on here.
I know I'm late on this one, but I think everyone including myself is saying poor marco is because he just can't seem to make the bike work for him. He has the machine gun in the knife fight, but he can't find the trigger to save his life.

Fabulous post. For some reason, many posters are very reluctant to give Stoner the respect he deserves.

Don't know where he's from and his fav rider says Elias.
But you pigeon holed him as a fan boy very quickly because he said Stoner gets no respect.
So in essence I guess it's your cage that has been rattled.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>The Doc 79 @ Jul 5 2008, 11:54 AM)
Yeah good call...in that case should we start the "super ducati" in the rear until the Japs build some more power huh....and until Rossi can learn to get a good start.....
which prompted my fanboy friend frizzle to start banging on about marco and how stoner is so good he's 3 secs a lap faster bla bla bla... how boring and as far as i can see frizzle and barry have not mentioned rossis bad starts once that i can see, so who's the fanboy ?

Well I am innocent. or possibly not observant enough.
I just went over his old posts. They covered a number of different subjects. Not just Stoner.

Okay Mr high & mighty.
Would you like me to go over all the threads you have turned into a Stoner bash fest?
Christ I'd be here all year.

Are you so simple minded to automatically assume that all Australian residents are invariably Casey Stoner fanboys? That is a silly question, perhaps, as you have demonstrated your weak intellectual capacity.

Just to clarify, I admire Toni Elias, Nicky Hayden and Valentino Rossi more than other GP riders. I'm not a big Casey fan, but I respect his ability immensely.

Also, yourpoint about Capirossi, Marco and Colin getting less respect than Casey is nonsenseical. Unlike Casey, they have not won a premier class title in such dominant fashion, against perhaps the greatest rider the world has ever seen. In the case of Capi and Marco, they have been <u>comprehensively</u> outclassed by Casey on the same machinery. It is illogical to suggest that they deserve more recognition for their talent as Casey.
