Now before everyone runs off and grabs their pitchforks in preparation of jumping on the anti-Rossi bandwagon: Relax. This isn't a kiss Rossi's arse post nor an invitation to burn him at the stake - consider it somewhere in neutral territory. Just simply sharing an article in the hopes of having a discussion as contrary to popular opinion, not all Rossi fans believe he is never in the wrong ;)

Interesting article that I wanted to share

How Valentino Rossi may try to get back into the 2016 title fight with Marc Marquez

With just six races remaining... Even if Rossi were to win all six of those race, Marquez could cruise to his third MotoGP title simply by finishing second to Rossi on each occasion.

Sure, while I'd love for him to win the championship this year, I am 99.99999% sure he wont and I'm okay with that - he has plenty already plus I more just want to see him go past agostini's race win record as opposed to another championship :giggle:

I don't see it happening, I don't recall Marquez ever crashing while battling someone only crashing while trying to keep up when he couldn't, or crashing out pushing too hard in the lead.

The ........ just never stops with rossi these days. Im sorry i even tried to give that load of crap a go.

Its like he lives in a world of unicorns and all other such mystical .... .....

Im so over rossi.

He came in when the mgp series got lame and folk were more into WSBK. Built up a lame as fanbase and has been making mgp .... since riders who whoop his arse came in.

No fairybread and unicorns for me thanks ...... im so over that .....

I was a Rossi fan once upon a time and now, I hope he would never win another race, let alone another championship lol. People say, never meet your "hero" cuz you would be disappointed. I don't need to meet him to get disappointed [emoji23]. While I never consider him a "hero", I have great respect for him as a racer but after the "Lorenzo or me" BS before he went to Ducati, the .... he pulled late last year and the BS middle finger with Asparagus on Friday , I can't wait to see him retired soon enough.

Makes me wonder what exactly he is holding out for, a tenth title? beat Agostini's record? Who knows. But makes me curious

Definitely the title. Beat Agostini record is nice but that's small fries compared to another title. Imagine how big that would be to him. King Rossi with 8th big boy title. Imaging the honors that the racing world will be throwing at him. He would be knighted by the queen of England. Imagine people will be lining up to suck his ....( he probably prefers guys anyway lol)

He lives in Scotland?
No, Wales.

Regarding the article. That guy basically gave the Rossi fans click bait. He could have summoned up the whole thing by saying: Rossi is 50 points back with 6 races to go, this is racing, anything can happen.

Anyway, it's true, the title isn't over. Marc can get hurt tomorrow, god forbid. And for the record, .... Rossi.

If you live in a glass house, don't throw rocks.

Argentina last year was something of a combination of the two (battling someone and trying to keep up when he couldn't) I guess.

if this is Rossi's tactic it might work for one race, and will have to happen very soon. Even as a callow rookie in 2013 MM settled for position and refused to engage in a duel with Lorenzo at the last race.

Rossi can do whatever he likes as long as it is legal as far as I am concerned. The authors of this article will be thrown out of the Rossi fan club if they are members though, as the light it would cast on Sepang 2015 if true is interesting, since the authors are suggesting both that how MM raced then was a response to attempted mind games by Rossi, and something which is in his DNA and exploitable by Rossi, pretty much the "Rossi Haters Forum" line.

In the end the article has no more (or less I guess) credibility than the speculation we engage in on here.

I think the motivation all along has been to beat Ago for premier class titles. the total wins thing was set in different days when people rode multiple classes etc, and Rossi himself has disdained non-premier class success on occasion, once saying Dovi had won nothing for instance.

The irony is that he never needed a tenth title to prove anything of course, even those who strongly criticise him on here now would have conceded him to be Agostini's superior prior to the Ducati move, and he could have retired as the unchallenged GOAT after the 7th/9th title. I guess he will still be ranked as that, but I fear the happy go lucky, fun loving, only there for the racing thing is rather gone.

Uh, huh. On this site you are going to start a Rossi only thread and expect everyone to throw away their modus operandi and sing kumbaya with Uccio, while the effigy of Marc burns in the middle? I don't think so.

VR is the queen of gamers. Matt Mladin was a pretty good player, but he was a hand-maiden to VRs royal treatment. That part of MotoGP is really old, and personally, I am tired of it. The way Stoner was treated by fans really turned me off to the Rossi method of gaining an advantage. And I can't relate to wanting someone with so many championships to win another. I would rather see someone new. If he could ride a Ducati, I might feel differently. ;)

I like the helmet for this weekend, though. Kum..... ba.... ya...

The fluff piece was written by an obvious bopper. The irony being, the message is: Rossi to employ the tactic he accused Marquez of last year.

Haha nope - I know better than to not have expectations here  Was more wording it how I did so that those who are not on board the Rossi train, didn't just automatically assume it was a "bow down to Rossi" type thread

In regards to his array of weird and whacky helmets, nothing can top the simoncelli one - hit me right in the feels

You're from LA right? PM me to go ride GMR or the Crest sometime.

Racing is of course most fun when you're winning but, I think I could still see him having enjoyed himself at Silverstone, where he had a dopey grin on afterwards despite having come up second best in battles against Crutchlow, Iannone & Marquez and still being 50 points down in the championship ("it was vary difficult to kontrol the bike but in the end was vary funnie with Marquez and Cratchlow and I'm vary appy for this podium").

For mine, no season is over until the points on offer is less than the point differential between the combatants, so in essence the title is not over until a rider celebrates having won the title.

Point gaps are nothing and can easily be erased by bad luck or misfortune (no greater reference than is Mick Doohan) and so any bopper or bopperette should still hold hope as I am sure that Rossi himself has not given up for he knows that anything can happen.

What he needs to do however is be in a position to hopefully make something happen and then be positioned to take advantage of it if/when it does. It is no good should something happen by VR's focus has been elsewhere so he cannot capitalise if the opportunity shall arise.

I expect both purely for the adulation that he will receive and the power that will then come with 'owning' the 10 titles or most race wins.

By power I quite simply mean marketing power and dollars as love or loathe him, he is a savvy businessman and knows how to manipulate opinions to achieve his aims and knows full well the income potential and marketability that he has spent decades fine tuning should he get those magic records.

I may well be wrong but he is riding for records and Rossi only and personally I suspect that when (I say when because I do not believe that he will quite without at least one of the records) he achieves the record he will then use that record and will licence DORNA to use it to their (both) advantage.

Rossi is a large ego and whilst I can see the steam rising in some from here, you need that large ego at the top level of all sport as it asissts the drive and desire to continue (in some it focuses, in others it gives hunger etc)

Now, all that said, it is DORNA that have looked after the golden goose, all VR has done is cough occasionally so that the medicine was available and so I suspect that medicine is still around if needed

I've usually found Aldo Drudi's designs crass, kitsch and often garish and somewhat ill conceived. That said, most if not all VR46 merchandising is cheap and tacky looking so I guess it fits quiet well.

The Simoncelli tribute was apt, but being the cover of 'Wish You Were Here', the artwork is Storm Thorgerson/Hipgnosis which is perhaps why you find it tasteful. I liked the eyeball, the 2015 winter test and this year's Blues Bro's tribute is brilliant.

What happens if you projectile vomit over a AGV KS-SV helmet?...

...Dreadful

What happened to classy Joey style minimalism?

I would like to see Rossi bow out of motogp as it is. He is not going to improve and it's only going to get uglier.

Move on.

I love what I read in a John Mcguinnes interview once and he stated that if he ever got near Joey's tt records he'd hang the leathers up.
