Rossi Out After Malaysia

You dont remember the T-Shirt stoner wore when he won the championship ? Had all his heros on it including Rossi.

Even so, as so many here are fond of pointing out, that was ages ago.

I think the sequence leading up to the GQ interview was:

Stoner passes Rossi in his comeback race on the last lap. Rossi makes a bitchy joke about how if the positions were reversed, Stoner would be crying.

Stoner says in press conference that Rossi's comeback wasn't all that remarkable and the press were bigging it up.

Rossi says the Duc is a good bike and that Stoner hasn't been pushing it.

Stoner replies that he'll find out next year, and anyway, he's getting his arse kicked by Lorenzo and that's what he should be worried about.

Rossi does the GQ interview....

What I don't get is Rossi mentioning how "they" (Lorenzo and Stoner) talk about Rossi being their hero - I don't recall Stoner mentioning anything of the sort, certainly not in recent times.

Points to rossi again then. He once when asked about his opponents weaknesses said that lorenzo was too mistake prone and that stoner was too emotional. I think he was accurate.

Lorenzo seems to have addressed his issue, it is time stoner did the same and stopped letting valentino play him.

Is there any good evidence that Stoner's emotions or supposed "mental weakness" has had any effect whatsoever on Stoner's performance on track?

I think the "emotional" thing was a barb thrown by Rossi and repeated ad nauseum by his flock, to the extent that now even some Stoner fans seem to accept it exists. But think about it, is there any real evidence? (And yeah, I remember him binning it twice immediately after Laguna, but as you've argued yourself - and I happen to agree - he was rightly in a "win it or bin it" mode, which was necessary to win the championship at that point. Even this period was over two years ago.)

I do agree however that it's Rossi attempting to pull the strings and Stoner who's replying.

EDIT: btw, perhaps it was Stoner's remark about Rossi "getting his arse kicked by a guy on the same bike" that lead to last week's battle....

No, it just makes his life unpleasant because it gives the media/his critics ammunition to make his life miserable off track, and unfortunately he mostly has seemed to care about his press. He actually has seemed more relaxed this weekend and the 2 before.

What I would really like to see is him not showing all his cards in practice if he gets into a position of frequently having dominant pace again .

..............Despite some peeps following the line that this was just racing as usual. .................

Whhheew. Your "peeps" include people like Agostini, Doohan &C.

Priceless Jum, keep it coming

Sack, Lorenzo has been beat by VR before in a battle. (Catalunya). The difference at Motegi was more being caught off guard because of the situation. He didnt expect Rossi to race him like Pedro at Estoril 06 (without the crash). When Rossi beat him in Spain, he was all congrats & humble to Rossi. This time it was simply unexpected that such agressive counter moves would result from his clean passes. Despite some peeps following the line that this was just racing as usual. He knows it was about some statement at the expense of him being in a predicament of having to be extra careful. Its this that he lashed out at in frustration. And judging from his prerace conference, the mind game has affected him, at least in his expressions to the media. Dont forget, Lorenzo got booed at Misano, this was pre Motegi. The lesson is that no matter what Lorenzo does now, hes gonna b a villian (just look at the list hes been placed with, Gibers, Stones, and non Lorenz). Complaining about Motegi, (despite his rival's issue of similar complaint at Turkey 07) did him no favors. Im sure u will hear people say that its this recent complaining that has soured their view of Jorge. But its really just 'sour grapes.'

Forgive those peeps (Rainy,Schwantz,Doohan,Gardner), talk about champions (in hating Rossi) like yourself mr Garrison. Those peeps dont know anything and theyr all anti Lorenzo. No body will dare to put his opinions above yours mr Garrison, especially those simple peeps who are all world champions.
