Rossi on a 250?

Hi all, good to see there are so many people out there who eat sleep and breath Motogp.
This may sound a bit out there (or it may already be posted somewhere else on the site) but I recently heard a rumour that Yamaha were beginning to develop a works 250gp bike again. The other part of the story was that Rossi would be developing and riding the bike alongside Motogp, ala Freddie Spencer. It would probably be the only thing left to do, he's done everything else. Anyone else heard this

I've also heard that rumour, in fact in an interview with Rossi, the interviewer asked Rossi if he would be willing to compete on both categories, Rossi replied that he hadn't thought about it but that re-adapting to a 2stroke would be too much work, maybe if the 250cc turned to 4strokes ...

Something that wont happen until 2011.

So basically I don't think that'll happen. Certainly not next year, and in 2007 he may not be even in MotoGP.

welcome sparky

i think that yamaha definately will not throw a bunch of money at a soon to be dead

It would be good but it will not happen. Dorna does not allow a rider to race more than one category.

Also, why would Rossi want to go from a premier class to a support class. I know that 250cc is a very competitive category and would be great but it would be like driving a Mercedes all your life to come back down to a Ford. It might sound good but its really not.

Actually Dorna rules don't mean a sh¡t, there was a rule that said "in every GP all the categories must race" that wouldn't allow the US GP, since 125cc and 250cc don't race there, what happened? Dorna changed the rules for the $$$.

Rossi going back to 250cc would mean the TV figures of the 250cc race would rise to sky so Dorna would change the rules to allow Rossi in 250&MGP in a minute.

Nowadays 125cc and 250cc are considered feeder categories, but not many years ago 125 and 250 were main objectives, many manufacturers (that don't exist anymore) were only interested in the lower categories.

The conclusion is that if Rossi is willing to do it, there won't be problems. But I doubt Rossi will do it. His image of invincibility would be torn to pieces if an unknown 250cc rider beated him.

Although if Rossi really wants to beat Agostini's record of victories he will have to race in 250.

Whats the latest regarding the 125 and 250 classes being changed to four stroke. They couldn't run super 600's, they would be too quick, could they?

Duh!! teomolca said that they are running two-strokes until 2011.

I personally think they should change to 4-strokes beforehand. But with the costs of 4-stroke development and the mostly even playing field of 2 stroke advancement then it may be good.

If it is cheap to race then more people with talent will afford it and it will become an even better breeding ground for future MotoGP talent.

Dorna officials know what they are doing so I can't tell them they are doing anything wrong hahaha.

Yeah, 4stroke 600cc would be perfect, but unfortunately Flamini (WSBK owner) has the rights for proddy racers, so they can't run a Supersport category to sub 250cc, Flamini would probably sue them(Dorna).

Prototipe 600cc would be too expensive, and almost the same as MGP 800cc.

Let's wait and see what happens, MSMA (Manufacturers association) is deciding now what kind of bikes will sub the 250cc and 125cc, they want to do 4 strokes (except Aprilia) that's for sure, but displacement, nº of cylinders, weight, prototype or proddy racer is yet to be decided. And of course WHEN will it happen.

greetings to all my adrenilin[spelling?] junkie friends.....I just had to put my 2 cents in...I never join these forums. Anyway i just got really mad reading this thread...I am Not mad at you folks,I am mad at honda! I feel that whatever smart ideas Yamaha or you guys {..... too?]or anybody else comes up with, just doesnt mean anything........Because the good thieving people of Honda will alway manipulate the system by paying off the inefective, useless DORNA to hondas advantage... Am i wrong?......I mean, come on--is anybody that you know happy about the inconceivable 800cc ........ downgrade? Look, I am just a fan...Not a mechanic...But it seems to me If you remove 1 of the five cylinders on the RC211, boom!--there is hondas precious 800cc's...Honda forced this to happen, dirty filthy move!! They are the most wealthy team by far and they already have the ....... motor!!! Look,we all love racing and the racing would be great at 800cc's- if, and its a big if, there is anybody to challange them......Sorry about the rant...Please someone tell me i am wrong!...I dont even want to be correct but i think i might be..

Ride fast and safe .....later

Yeah probably the 800cc limit will be an advantage for Honda because they have the biggest budget and the F1 technology already developed. But don't worry about the V5 minus 1 cylinder, it can't be done. Honda need to design a new engine from scratch.

What has that got to do with Rossi in 250cc???

Welcome IcrashedmyMV I like ya style, hope you post some more, ya just can't beat a good rant on place like this.

I'm inclined to agree with you, mostly because I'm not a Honda fan and do think they are very arrogant (speeling) lot, I also love the all this loseing they are doing kinda sweet. Sounds like you will enjoy Motegi as much as me if Rossi win's.

Really it just makes Rossi's win's ever more sweet

However for me to beleive totally need some more oil

Cheers

Okay I went off like a madman, this time I will be very direct....I feel that honda is playing dirty because they put so much cash into rossi and the rc211, but success was short lived...when rossi left they stopped winning--so they did something about it....they changed the rules!! it is because of this that i think THIS ENTIRE THREAD IS IRELEVENT[spelling?] because what honda wants-honda gets!! Its all up to honda, and i am sorry I am a big 2-stroke fan, BUT I just dont see the good, honest, fair[sarcasm anyone?] people at honda or even yamaha or any other company spending R&D money on an outdated engine format that almost doesnt even exist anymore..there are barely any 2-strokes available right now- why would there be a whole class of smokers in 5 or 6 years? It is not good business for any of the company's to parade around on 2-srokes that dont sell or are not available for sale....I hope your right about the minus 1 cylinder thing....But youve got to admit, honda ...... everybody!! Look at kenny roberts sr, his whole team just imploded because they cant start over..And no, I am not even a roberts fan[we love you and miss you, Barry]....Bottom line--honda is in control!...Of what I dont know...Besides dorna!!.....
