Valentino Rossi is interested in entering the WRC when he quits bike racing, says one of rallying's most highly placed figures.

The Yamaha MotoGP rider is competing in the Rally of New Zealand and rallying's commercial rights and ex F1 BAR boss Dave Richards, says it could become more permanent,

He would be 100% good for the championship he told motorsport.

One of the goals he has when he finishes MotoGP is a couple of seasons's rallying.

I don't think it's gonna happen anytime soon, so far Rossi is a crap rally driver, he will need much more experience before he can attempt to become a succesful WRC driver.

And anyway I don't see no one beating Loeb in the next few years.

He hasn't really had that much chance, apparently he was ok in testing and was abit unlucky to crash out of the best rally around the world ( Wales! ) last time out.

If he did decide to go there for a couple of seasons after his Moto GP career I think it wouldn't be a very good idea. Fair enough, have a blast at Rallying now and then but I think everyone knows him for being the Doctor in Moto GP and that's where his true home is.

Anyway, Rossi could carry on racing bikes till he's 40.

Not now at least, Rossi isn't used to aiming for second best, and there ain't no one taking that title away from Loeb anytime soon. Ironically enough, I'd say he's the Rossi of rallying. Only difference is, rally doesn't have a Hayden

didnt he do very well in the welsh rally the year before tho ?

Rossi has only done one other Rally and that was wales when he came off the road and shagged the Car...

Running 24th First time out at the moment, if all goes well I think a Top 20 place in possible.

Next he'll be doing the Daka Rally!!!

He didn't crash out. A tree jumped right into his path!!! LOL!

Well he's gone from putting in the 33rd best time in the first stage to 13th best time by the 5th stage. So guess he must be enjoying this one.

After day 2 he's up to 13:th overall. He beat Petter Solberg with 0.8 seconds, finishing 7:th on SS11. Pretty amazing! Maybe he will go to rallying fulltime in 08? I think he has it in him to be among the best if he do.

Not bad for his second rally

, He's now 11th..

Ok. He's completed the last stage. 11:th it is. Well done!
But I'd rather see that he stays in MotoGP. It wouldn't be the same whitout him...

i doubt he will leave before regaining the title. even if it's in 07 i think he'll stick around for at least thru 08.

Rossi isn't good enough for Rallying just yet and if he leaves it too late in his career then he will never be good enough...he's too old to start now to be fair.

There's no messing about whilst driving a rally car and Rossi won't like this seeing as he is a bubbly and live person, he's got to adapt to become the 'cool man' of Marcus Gronholm who just takes it as a drive down a country lane on Sunday...no wheelies out of the last corner.

IT DOESN'T MATTER IF HE'S NO GOOD AT RALLYING NOW. IF HE DOES IT FULL TIME I'M SURE HE'LL IMPROVE DRASTICALLY. I JUST HOPE THAT IF HE EVER GO FULL TIME ON 4-WHEELS, HE CHOOSES WRC OVER F1. NOTHING AGAINST F1, I JUST THINK WRC NEEDS BETTER PUBLICITY THAN F1.

Just because WRC doesn't have grandstands everywhere doesn't mean it's not popular. Ok so it's nothing compared to F1 but there are just as many WRC fans as Moto GP fans out there.

whys that then ? i cant see that age has anything to do with it ,it's not as if he has to run the stages on foot.

HA HA! Nice one Roger!

I really dont think you could write Vale off in any motorsport. It take a one off rider to dominate bike racing the way he has, and seriously, how many folk could run 11th place in their 2nd WRC round in a year old car?

You don't achieve what Rossi has by not having an unbelievable understanding of how to make a vehicle go fast, and an unnatural belief that you are the best at what you do. 80 odd cars started the New Zealand Rally, and he finished 11th, thats no mean feat.

Yeah we'd miss him in motogp, but he's obviously looking for new challenges. It's all good for bike racing that he has done this, and if he does move on, all the best!

Pete

He's pouting because he's not world champ anymore. He'll be back on the 800 soon getting it ready to try and take back the crown in MotoGP. Anything else is just a pastime
