Rossi fans in deep pain

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (ToniElias @ May 21 2007, 04:59 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>And don't tell lies please. Rossi did say the Ducati is the fastest bike he has ever seen.

And didn't Rossi switch to Yamaha to show off and show that the rider is more important than the bike ?

i never said Valentino hasnt said that ducati is the fastest but it is Colin that has done endless interviews on the subject!

And Rossi has shown that against the hondas in 2004.

Rossi had the best bike in 02, 03 and 05 which is why he won championships with such comparative ease.

So you admit he did. Nice.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Valentino Is God @ May 21 2007, 04:10 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>And Rossi has shown that against the hondas in 2004.
But he isn't showing it this year. And I am amazed a guy who goes to another team to proof the bike doesn't matter, suddenly starts complaining about Stoners bike or his Michelin tyres and so on. He even said last year he thought he was unbeatable. Can you imagine ? At least I want to see him being gracious and hear him say Stoner is just riding better than him.

Watched Rossi since his 125 days and has been his ardent fan since. Comparing the way he rode in the wet at Donington 2001 and Le Mans 2007, I feel the greatest rider the world has ever seen is on a steep decline. He seems to lose it all, more than just grip on that wet tarmac but his once unshakeable confidence. To watch Stoner, Pedrosa, Hayden and Alex Hoffman passed him by, was the most painful feeling as long as I could remember since following motogp way back in 1991. Rossi, I feel, has lost it all. He should take the Ferrari F1 challenge last year and bid goodbye to Motogp at the top of his game. Last year, though losing it to Hayden, was one of his best ever performance. The victories at Sacchenring, Mugello and Sepang were sensational to say the least. In short, Rossi is over, just like Ali in 1979. Motogp will never be the same without Rossi that we knew before. The current batch of riders are not in the same class. Goodbye Doc and bring on 2008. Hail Jorge Lorenzo! He might be the new Rossi, just like Rossi after Doohan and Doohan after Rainey............

I happen to like funny people..

I wouldn't say Rossi is being ''owned'' by Stoner, but I will definitely admit Casey is doing a fantastic job this season. Glad to hear you have a new hero

I'm a Rossi fan, but I'm not blind..
I'm also not biased towards him. I don't think Rossi actually did a ''bad'' job so far. If you look at the races so far, he did a good job, but Stoner did a better job, and I'm happy for him!! That being said, I hope Vale will make a comeback!!

Are we starting again asking sources :s. I am not a liar. I want Rossi to loose but that doesn't mean I am degrading people by making up stories. That's not my style. I once read Rossi said this. Now I was spending a lot of time to give you the proof and it was extremely difficult to find it, even when googling because I didn't know his exact sentence. So please, never again consider me as a liar.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Tom @ May 21 2007, 05:40 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I thought that in the wet being heavier makes it easier to generate heat in the tires, and so is not a disadvantage.

That depends. With lots of water the temprature isn't much anyway. Besides, no weight difference would make a measurable difference in such rain.
Theres tons of other issues as well. A small light rider won't upset the bike as much when he move around, and when the bike has to soak up the riders weight, typically at braking point turn etnries and chicanes.
That said. I'm not argueing for a distinct advantage. Pedrosa was riding surpricingly well this weekend and his training obviously paid off.

No problem. Strange I am really having a normal conversation with a Rossi fan. Till now, I only had fights with them because they can't accept other people don't like Rossi. Yes, its such a waste of time even arguing if it is a weight advantage because there is no way in hell its the significant factor for his performance on sunday or any other times for that matter.

What do you mean Rossi fans aren't normal.
<

Some of them (usually more recent fans who have only discovered joy of motogp in 06/07) can be like that.

Most of us on this forum have been fans for longer like me since 2000ish i think and have seen other riders and can see past Valentino.

Even if there is a weight (dis)advantage, it doesn't really matter. But since Rossi came up with Pedrosas weight advantage under normal track conditions, I came up with the advantage Rossi had now but still got beaten.

I love this guy!!!

ToniElias, I read this entire thread and was very amused. Thanks man, you are a refreshing voice. You make no qualms about how you feel about Rossi; and your wit is ball to the wall. Haha. I love it. The 9 ".... yous" are a nice touch. But my favorite is the guy shouting his ... off next to the #1 award! Brilliant!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Captain Snow @ May 21 2007, 08:19 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Why do you choose to try to garner as much attention to yourself as possible? Its very immature and doesnt speak highly of you as a person.

Oh please, all we need is more censorship and the world will be a better place, right? I had to quote your entire post. Oh, by the way, welcome to the forum. What a splash you make on your first post ever. ToniElias' insightful post must have drawn you in, that's nice. Toni is somewhat of a recruiter.

I must say, your post had me laughing; it took me several times to get through it because it tickled me so much. Uhm, so you are a Rossi fan. And you day his career is over? Uhm, ok. Well I hope you stick around for the rest of the season and make regular contributions to this forum. I anticipate a slight adjustment to your take.

I'm English, I have a wierd sense of humour so I've been struggling with TE, but I've stuck with it!
TE,.........how you doing? I've been keeping a quiet eye on posts recently, hard to get a word in edgeways!

You're a bit harsh, but life was never meant to be easy! You've upset plenty of people, but they've left themselves open to it. I'm amused to see how your posts have pushed through the boundaries of moderation, and maybe in future we can have serious Moto GP discussions without every post being turned into a Rossi defence case.

Personally, and as I've said before and got into hatred arguements, I feel Vale is past his best. I certainly don't hate the guy, I have massive admiration for him and he has been the man of the decade.
No man is bigger than the sport itself. My feeling is that last year Vale took liberties. He took advantage of his position, and lost focus mid season by testing Ferrari F1 cars. It could be said that he not only lost focus, but he was used by F1, to bring media attention to F1. I feel he got caught up in his own media hype, and that became the most important factor. You surely cannot lose focus in the world arena?
Pre arranged victory celebrations also seemed to become a vital part of the Rossi circus. It was these celebrations which have made me want a change of World Champion. I'd still like to imagine them 7 dwarfs trudging back to the woods!!!

Now Vale is getting beaten, not occassionally by different riders, but regularly by the same guy, he appears to be pushing too hard under the pressure. He obviously doesn't like getting beat, none of us do, but is he putting too much pressure on himself?

Maybe things will turn around for him this season, but I also now feel that he has lost his aura of invincibility in many other riders' eyes. They know he can be beaten, they know 'he knows' he can be beaten, so what do you know, he's being beaten!!!! Other riders' are more prepared to 'rough him up' it seems to me.

Many sports heroes have reigned supreme, then maybe when they feel invincible and then get 'hurt', they crumble under the confusion. Mike Tyson is one that springs to mind! The harder they try, the worse it gets.

Things change, I hope the ardent Rossi fans stay with Moto GP when he decides to call it a day.

And as for you Toni Elias, you can come to my house and drink my beer until my wife look not too bad!

I really dont think any rossi fans care to much at this point of the championship pal. I think u have forgotten he is still 2nd in the championship. By the way, how did tony elias go in the rain? yeh thats what i thought! he crashed and also got beaten by pedrosa in the rain.

Stay cool, man. It isn't so bad Rossi will lose again this year. You can't always win, especially not when there is a better rider on the field.
