great thread this.
Well, I have so many to list. But I think my favorite VR/GP46.$ moment was when Rossi and Daddy engaged in a bit of Vollywood. Truly an Academy Award like performance. And I'm sure if Carmelo Clause was head of the Academy, VR would have surely not only been nominated, but the trophy would have been well deserved. Of course, a special category would have been created, as it was not just theatrical drama on display, but also a hilarious comedy, and sadly, a bit of a tragedy.
I also like when he torpedoed Casey and the thought occurred to me, that front end Duc is still causing Casey problems, ah the irony. The resulting verbal bitchslap will forever be GP lore. Australian children will be singing songs about this moment for 1000s of years.
Silverstone, in the rain. After VR saying how much of an advantage the Duc was in the rain, then proceeding in coming a full half minute behind his teammate...in the rain.
VR/Duc moment, reading J4rno & Talps (where is he anyway?) tell us DuCorse had done nothing radical or substantial in terms of helping VR turn the bike around. While Krops declared, Duc will never go to twin spar. Then, of course, I found myself reading an article from some guy named David that declared, DuCorse makes "radical" changes, shelving the Italian company's storied DNA for a Japanese clone, etc.
VR/Duc moment, was when the league's top official, stealing a great British expression 'stay calm' then adding, 'VR will be on a Japanese factory bike next year so help me God.' The irony of course being, Rossi is God.
VR/Duc moment, was reading the "experts" declare there is a missing "Alien" referring to VR's lack of results. Interesting I thought, where did he go? Did he not go to a "factory" bike, along with the dynamic duo of legendary development, surely they would improve on a platform that the record show had won races the previous year? I mean, surely the supposed GOAT would at least be able to match the previous emotionally weak-minded lead rider, also declared an "Alien".
I also liked that special helmet that featured some no-name Italian comic, with the words,
"Lets stay together". Which apparently was lost in translation. No, the words were correct, but it wasn't intended for the public. It was a love message to Uccio. Having read the ultimatum that Yamaha issued VR about leaving behind his crew, Uccio feeling a bit abandoned, was relieved when Rossi made good on his promise that he would show his lover a public display of affection.
