Regardless of where the bikes come from, what size bikes, or what the costs are, privateer teams will not come in to the MotoGP series until they can make it a viable business.
Race teams do not race for the love of the sport. It is business.
DORMA needs to change the structure of the MotoGP series to make it an attractive business prospect for factories and privateer teams.
Here I go again...
Set up licenses.
Sell the licenses to teams wanting to compete (DORMA gets a big one off sell out payment).
A percentage of the profits from running the series goes to the teams.
Teams get additional sponsorship to cover their operating costs.
Factories sell a basic version of the factory spec bikes to privateers, who are then free to develop them in their own direction.
Factories can then offset their development costs by selling race bikes - scales of ecconomies in production.
Investment for factory teams would be lower and would attract new factory teams and privateer teams.
Greed and stupidity from the leading factories and Dorma, will kill this sport
Well they had better work fast since it is on life support.
