this is what i like about rossi he would much prefer a well earned race... a good scrap instead of running off and blitzing the field

Moto GP should go to ULTRA-SBK rules.... race bikes based off the TOP manufacturers bikes... Fireblade, 1098R, R1, etc etc... sept they're free to get as much power from that engine as they want..use any materials they want..but HAS to stay based on the FACTORY engine.. In line 4 1000, Ducati 1098 Vtwin, etc etc (nornalt asperated engines)... they can keep carbon brakes and that .......

Sounds good in theory but the manufactures egos would never agree to it.

Poor Tom, he has confidence in himself and he doesn't know his limits.

Tom, some advice from me to you. Keep up the good work and make sure you don't overly confrontational with the sheep. Self-efficacy is one hell of a drug and it gives you the power to alter reality.

I suggest you put it to better use.

P.S. Obi Wan Kenobi once said "Only the sith deal in absolutes", but if that's true, Obi Wan was a sith. However, George Lucas clearly told us that Obi Wan is not a sith. Obviously, the saying is a Jedi mind trick meant to separate the students from the masters. You will not become a real Jedi until you start speaking in absolutes.

Don't ever use "probably" again. You are smarter than Rossi and you can definitely ride a motorcycle better than he can. Now go do it!

I'm going to make some popcorn.

It would be a good idea if through out the race the make pits to smoke parts of the bike. Hmmmm what would go first?

Wouldn't there be an issue with defining "based on the factory engine"? Would it be stock block? Same design but different materials?

block design yeah.. Duc uses a twin in their 1098... so they use a twin 1098...if they want to build it out of ....... and beer...so be it... but it has to stay a twin 1098..

Rossi is spot on, the sport is to elitist.
Way too elitist. Even the fans.
I'm seeing guys sporting entire gold grills now.

Ain't going to happen....
Regardless of where the bikes come from, what size bikes, or what the costs are, privateer teams will not come in to the MotoGP series until they can make it a viable business.
Race teams do not race for the love of the sport. It is business.
DORMA needs to change the structure of the MotoGP series to make it an attractive business prospect for factories and privateer teams.

Here I go again...
Set up licenses.
Sell the licenses to teams wanting to compete (DORMA gets a big one off sell out payment).
A percentage of the profits from running the series goes to the teams.
Teams get additional sponsorship to cover their operating costs.
Factories sell a basic version of the factory spec bikes to privateers, who are then free to develop them in their own direction.

Factories can then offset their development costs by selling race bikes - scales of ecconomies in production.
Investment for factory teams would be lower and would attract new factory teams and privateer teams.

Greed and stupidity from the leading factories and Dorma, will kill this sport
