I think Alonso would get woken up real fast, who does he think he's kidding? For charity, that would be good he'd find it hard to refuse then.

Considering Alonso's comments have been totally misquoted and changed I doubt Rossi said that.
In the case Rossi said that, I think he is quite cheeky to propose 2 categories Alonso has never tried (WRC & MotoGP). I think a karting competition would be fairer since both have similar karting experience.

Teo is right, adding a rally car race to the bill would give the advantage to Rossi but since they are both formal kart advocates they should do that instead. If Rossi really did say that I highly doubt Alonso will respond to it much less accept the challenge. Too much pride to lose. Sorry Teo, your boy would be cryin' at the end of the day.

I cannot happen, it would require equal machinery, and Alonso is not going to drive a Ferrari and Rossi won't drive a Renault (or McLaren).

The way Rossi set it up (added times) he would easily win, because he would get too much advantage with the bike.

But if it was set up 1 point for each win (1 point for WRC, 1 for bike, 1 for F1) I believe Alonso would win. Even if he has never driven a WRC car, I think Alonso could get decent times with the WRC in a few tests, because Rossi is really a mediocre rally driver.

it's hard to say...You know each will win his respective class but at least rossi has WRC experience.
I agree that they should go to karts.
They should go to karts and pocketbikes..

I think aggregate time would be the only way to do it. Valentino may build a large lead on the bike but couldn't you argue that Alonso should do the same thing in a car?

I think it was pretty arrogant of Alonso to say that to such a motorsport legend, but (Tyipcally) Rossi wouldn't let anyone be cheekier than him. Why dosen't Alonso just do a few tests with Honda or someone and see how his times match Rossi's (As a percentage) after having as much experience on a bike as Rossi did in an F1 car.
I think Rossi could win any style of challenge where Alonso (or Rossi ) has little experience because Rossi's naturally talented. Also because he's had experience in most grass roots motorsport that lead up to big world championships (Like minibikes > MotoGP, karting > F1, driving old cars in quarries > Rally)

I dunno about rally, but isn't it really long? Couldn't the gap there be minutes not seconds? That could be where Rossi gets his lead.
There's a good chance Rossi wouls slide out his F1 car, but I suppose Alonso's got just as much chance of stcaking a GP bike, if not more.

I think Alonso would have 2 or 3 seconds on a F1 track over Vale.
Vale could have 10-30 seconds on Alonso on a bike track.
Rally could be on Vale's side...if your good your good at rally and a little mistake could add 15 to 20 seconds.

Winner I thought you'd be into seeing Rossiwalk up and downa boring F1 driver like Alonso.

Anyway, apparently they're going to do it!!! It made the sprt section of the news on a radio section here! So are they just full of .... or will Rossi be handing out a flogging to poor old Alonso

I'm sure VR would have closer to a 30 sec advantage on a bike. Most guys spend a couple of years racing before they can even get close to national riders that would be at least 10 seconds a lap down on any MotoGP rider. I'm pretty certain he's also gonna have the advantage in a rallycar. Anyone see the special stages event in Paris that Rossi competed in? Over two special stages (indoor) Rossi was only 2 secs or so off Sebastian Loeb, so he can steer a rallycar pretty good. I don't know much about F1 and I'm not really that interested in it but I think Alonso has to be able to pull 5 - 10 secs on VR in genuine heat of battle. If all that Alonso could manage was 2-3 secs over a relative novice then how could anyone take F1 seriuosly ever again. Rossi's talanted but he ain't God.

Would they be doing a full race? Because if Alonso can average a second per lap over Rossi (not impossible) then He'd buld up a significant lead. But Rossi's motoGP lead would be even bigger. Rossi's F1 skill would far outshine Alonso's motoGP skill. IF Alonso managed to stay upright, he could only do so very slowly. Rossi would eat him alive on a GP bike

ahahhaaaa what a freakin puss..

he is probably right tho cause he would dump the GP bike in the first lap and hurt his pansy ass.

You can't mock the guy because he's focused on the job at hand. I wouldn't expect anyone but Rossi to make time to play during a season. I will mock the guy because he started running his mouth and Rossi came back and now he looks like the candy ass.

I'm not really mocking the guy cause there IS a good chance that he could end up on his duff. That could end his season...I'm mocking the fact that he started running his mouth and got called out.
