Rossi and Michael Schumacher have a same thing in the tail-end of their career

It would thus seem that the relative lack of Rossi’s set up skills and low quality of feedback to the team’s engineers is hereby confirmed. After years of speculation on this issue, we will see the results of the emperor swimming naked.

we really do not know whats going on with Rossi's bike, we know he took delivery of a factory M1 but there is hardly any indication that he is getting a lot of factory support from Yamaha when it comes to data sharing and updates. Yamaha did have a lot of issues during preseason testing, did any of their solutions reach Rossi's team?

I only bring that up because of how Yahama seems to treat Mobidelli and his team. He is obviously someone who can fight for a podium, yet he was not given a factory bike. It does not seem that there is a lot of support from the factory team to the customer team.

Has it not always been thus?

So many angles to factor in. I. The assumption that Rossi is leading development at this late stage - which is doubtful at best. 2. Likeliest thing is the most obvious - he’s past his prime, a component of all this that would in any event, negate advantages gained by set-up etc, all of which are pretty subtle. IMHO any “development skills” Rossi does or doesn’t have would be rendered moot by the disadvantages of age... uhh, I think I just said the same thing twice in different ways.

Of course it has been...

Though when you look at Ducati and how they work with Pramac, with 4 sometimes 5 factory bikes out there, that give them a lot of data to look at and develop from. KTM is also in a similar situation.

Had a feeling. There doesn’t seem to be much difference between factory and Pramac bikes.
