Riding Style - Which riders' style do you prefer?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (VHMP01 @ Apr 12 2007, 10:59 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>About Elias, seems to me a funny style, there’s and article that crack me up about this in www.motogpnews.com that mentions:

“His 'ape hanging off a branch reaching for a far off banana' cornering style is visually pleasing as his 100% effort at all times. Add to that the fact he can't seem to ride in a straight line and blows hot and cold and you have a truly special and unpredictable rider. We at MGPN love him. Jerez was a great race for Fat Toni. After a poor start he charged through the field with all the grace of a bull fight in a Japanese tea room. Now when most riders catch an opponent they spend a few corners or laps working out the best place to make an overtaking maneuver. Not Elias. The very second he caught up to a rider he'd have a crack at passing and, nine times out ten, fail and run wide. But through his determination, genuine speed and knowing the odds would eventually favor him he crashed his way up through the pack to fourth. A better start would surely have seen his chorizo on the podium”…

That was funny.

Anyway, most of them have a great style, after all if we could just do any as good as they do we could have a shot at riding a GP bike, wouldn’t we?

I remember reading this.... I think I shat myself and spat milk out my nose at the same time. This is one of my top 3 websites fer sher(as Haystack would say)......no disrespekt

I love it when he stuffs it to Pedrosa... fearless.. I can't wait for him to try it with the big boys.. especially Rossi...

But ever since he went to Kenny school... and no competition, his style isn't showing.

good call! i thought he'd make top 10 EZ, but damn!!!!! He's made me a lot of fantasy $$$$$

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (mylexicon @ Apr 21 2007, 06:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I really don't like Doohan's riding style at all.............but I know that's exactly how I ride too :
Er..I think you'll find you don't!

One Freddie Burdette Spencer, simply for having the most natural innate raw talent the sport has ever seen

Currnetly, for sheer technical finesse, Dani. I've a feeling his Lawsonesque approach to riding might clinch him the title this year.

For sticking his neck out...me, (based on the comment above), otherwise Colin, Tamada and Whitham.

The decking one arse cheek award...Elias, who else?

Grit and aggression - Gardner, Bayliss and Foggy, and Rem Fowler for carrying a horse whip to fend off stray dogs in the early days of the island

Scruff of the neck - Schwantz and Capi

Wheelies - The boy Hopper

For powersliding, obviously Doohan and McCoy.

Backing in, Nicky, for even attempting it on the souped up mini moto that he's forced to ride now. But even on the 990, he pales into insignificance compared to Jonesy's antics in WSS this year.

For style and charisma off the bike, Geoff Duke and Sheeney

For being able to do all of the above at will, in his sleep, without trying, No.46

Awkward style? - Ukawa's broom handle arm rigidity never did it for me; Christian Kellner who was more upright than the 'John Holmes sized dildo' recently alluded to by Rising Sun; Xuas, with his knees around his ears, and finally The Pog for his impersonation of a nodding dog every time he gets on the brakes.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (ogunski @ Apr 12 2007, 06:58 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Nicky's back it in and square it off style is good to watch. I found that riding the front very hard gives a lot more corner speed and lower lap times from my own track day expreience. I do find that backing it in helps to intimidate some of the less experienced riders. Simply back it in a couple of times and when you come past next time they part like the red sea

. Although I did get a ban threat from the lads at Jennings GP in north Florida. Oh well! I guess my bullying style is not appreciated.

One of the funniest posts I have ever read.

No-one mentioned Sete Gibernau so I will. Fluid and fast.

Elias is entertaining to watch definitely.
But I'm more likely to drool over Rossi's hard braking.
Nicky looks great on the bike too...but as someone mentioned, it's been a while since he's shown us the cool stuff.
As for greatest rear view....Nicky wins hands down!

Rossi vs Pedrosa
Well this is a good one for the Rossi vs Pedrosa crowd. They pretty much go at it for a while.

I am a Biaggi fan. I don't like the fact that he is never agressive in the first laps but mid race to the end the guy is smooth and fast....

Was Stoner mentioned ? Stoner was incredible last year. Absolutely out of his skull. He can be smooth but can hang the bike if needed.

So here goes for me:

1) Elias
2)Lorenso
3)Rossi
4)Dovi
5)Toseland - He came to the motogp party and bashed quite a few heads.
6)Hoppers - dude learn how to save your tyres for full race

I began watching last year, and Rossi wasn`t doing too great, but I could easily see his dominant style at once. You can see he`s the best rider even when things aren`t working out.

As for best style now my favorite is Lorenzo as rider and traveling moonman. I actually expected him to be among the few top guys going into this season. He has loads of talent with winning instinct and stone cold when in lead. He hasen`t got the most distinct style but seeing him smoothly blazing through the field (and takes on anyone) is amazing. Giving it all when this bruised and getting some hilarious offers is also cool to watch. The gravel run in QP was one of them

I think I`ve only seen Hayden doing a very good race once and backing up into corners, and I wish I could have discovered this sport some years earlier when I understand this was more common and useful.

My overall favourite is Jeff Ward

I love both Elias' hung so far off he's sat on the floor style and Haga's aggressive I don't give two ..... about any other rider style. Both entertaining as hell to watch.

For smoothness and text book perfect riding style I must say Biaggi although his increasing amount of mistakes means that it is hard to judge.
