Ricky wins the race!

The St. Louis race was awesome. Ricky Carmichael (as some of you may know) is only doing a few races this season as a fare-well tour into retirement. But you wouldn’t know it judging from the way he has raced in his final events. The guy is fast and hungry; even though he doesn’t have to be risk taking, he does it anyway. Now that’s class and respect for the sport.

On to Bubba…well if you were lucky enough to see the race you saw an exciting one. Reed gets the hole shot and looks poised to pull away but then in what seemed to be a fit of aggressive racing, gets tangled up early with Budda and they both go down. Ricky who was a few riders back, quickly fights to get on the lead. Meanwhile Reed gets his bike up and takes off, but Budda has a bit more trouble but finally gets it going. At the front, with an open track, Ricky begins to pull away. Budda, feeling like he wants to scrap with Reed, goes like a bat out of hell and catches up to Reed and puts a hard pass on him as if to say FU. (Turns out he had a few choice words with Reed after the race). Bubba slices through the field like a hot knife through butter and manages to come from way behind, something like 16th to bag a 2nd. Ricky wins, the crowd goes wild.

Bubba retains the points lead.

Back in 2002/2003 it was Ricky who was puttin the nasty moves on Chad, I remember the crowd booing Carmichael at at least one race back then. Woooo Bubbler ahd words with Chad afterwords, did he tell him he got mud on his skirt or somethin?

These guys would be great if they left the States.

No doubt.

Now if I have ever seen a guy on fire, it was at Daytona. Even sideways, the guy was not gonna be denied. Wow. What a win!

I totally remember that. At the time, people still had a love affair with McGrath. It was hard to see a guy beat the person you had grown to love. People couldn't and wouldn't accept a changing of the guard. But then came along this kid named Ricky. Hey....Ricky rhymes with Nicky. Maybe that's why people can't accept him either...

Sounds like a superb race, I hope I catch it sometime here. (doubt it

)

Nice comparison by the way, and very true. Unfortunately, I feel there's always a couple of 'crossover' years where a couple of other names get thrown in the hat before the new guard take over.

Sorry mate.

i really wish i had coverage .... i used to, but now nothing ...
good to hear some updates though.
well katt it's all about stewart this year. he's light years ahead of the rest. rc has done a few races, winning a couple, but he's thru with supercross & is now off to be a nascrap driver. really the only rider that can even come close to js now is chad reed, but he ain't even close really. the supercross lites east is where the action is & it's a stacked field this year. the west is all ryan villapoto.
