Whilst watching the Moto GP qualifying today I saw an advertisement that popped up advertising the Red Bull Moto GP Rookies Cup, which is basically trying to find/train up talent in order to be Moto GP superstars when they're older. Now, i'm 14 years old so I can enter it if I like and I really am thinknig about giving it a shot because how many times will I get this kind of chance? You don't need any sort of racing/driving experience, if you have talent to be trained etc. they will take you on. The good thing is I have my own quad bike that I burn up around my nan's fields and tarmac (she was a farmr, retired now) at 50mph+. I don't know whether it's worth trying to enter or not but here is the site: http://www.redbullrookiescup.com/?flash=ok

Go for it!!!! We would cheer you on!!!!

Yep it is.

This is the only chance i'm going to get to do this so I may aswell, gotta ask parent's first though (my dad is a huge Moto GP and F1 fan so I bet he'll say yes, he used to race too). Cheers for the comments.

I think you'll have to work your mother the most. They are the biggest obstacle for EVERY kid wanting to race let alone own a motorcycle. Where I messed up was showing MOM how well I could ride a bike on one wheel, or most of all that I was a good kid. I read Rossi's book and it sounds like his key to get the OK from Mom was to be a little sht. So nag your mom for everything (candy, soda, xbox360, cell phone, ipod, ninja turtle). Just hope your parents don't buy you a dog. That means NO!!!!

Best of luck!

The red bull Rookies have NO experience? I was wondering how they select them. I thought they picked young rookies from national 125 championships. What kinda bikes do they ride? Hondas or Aprilias?

Didn`t Rossi`s mum want him to be a lawyer?

I wanted to, and I was doing sooo well.... until I mentioned the numbers 1, 2, and 5, one after the other

I may have forgotten to mention the exact branch of motorsport the cup was in.

Nope apparently you don't need any experience, if they think you've got potential and could make a good rider they'll take you on and train you up with the best guys in the business.

As for the bikes, check out these links:
http://www.redbullrookiescup.com/?flash=ok

Go to selection or rookie cup then check out the bike section.

surely you must at least know how to ride a bike?? how can they judge if you have potential if you cannot ride?

:D

So this is your first time on a bike? I bet your dad will or has given you some great info on what to do, and how.

I grew up on the back of many of my dads bikes, and I credit him with setting me up for how well I can ride. You are real lucky that your father has raced, so be a sponge and soke it all in!

Yup, I guess I am. I have rode Motocross 100cc's before but only for a couple of minutes round a small dirt track. My uncle has one of the top Yamaha's around at the minute, i'll try and find which model it is.

My dad's bike is a Yamaha XJ600 which he bought around 6 months ago for only £4,000 I think.

The 'riders' face looks like Sete Gibernau's from the Fantasy League picture you've got on Ben.
