Rossi didn't start off with his now entrenched skewed perceptions, he's a man that has been treated exceptionally, like an 'emperor' (Herve's words) and it has resulted in a distorted sense of self-importance.
So he thinks he is a god. Yet, this god vetoed hiring Stoner as a teammate. Deep inside he must have known he is not that exceptional.

Ok how about this for mentioning someone else:

Stoner never once is his career veto'd a team mate.

Lorenzo has yet to veto a team mate.

Marquez has yet to veto a team mate. (And if you reply with Stoner standing in for Pedrosa, then unless you have proof that the veto came from Marquez himself instead of the widely reported Alzamora, then it doesn't count)

So, same as Marquez?
I've worked out already that this forum is on a hair-trigger, so I just want to caveat the next question as being legitimate and not seeking to inflame, but when has Marc refused a partner who may show him up?
I thought Casey retired of his own volition?

I also wanted to add that regardless of what anyone may think of Valentino, he is an exceptional rider, however I feel that his rightful place as one of the greats stems from his race craft and competitive longevity.
In terms of being exceptional and great for sheer out and out physics defying speed, beyond what a motorcycle should be capable of, then for me, in no particular order it's Stoner, Saarinen and Marquez

In the event of mixed conditions during the race at COTA, Lorenzo will be allowed to start his race 10 minutes before the rest of the grid. This is due to TV time constraints.

This forum isn't on a hair trigger.
It's the last bubble where half a dozen of middle aged farts can build an alternative universe where Rossi is a no talent hack and everyone else is awesome.

No hair-trigger here. It's just the quotidian handful of Rossi-fan clones who come over here from Crashnet from time-to-time who delude themselves into believing that Rossi needs them to defend his reputation by acting like monkeys flinging .... through the bars.

We know what you look like.
You're in no position to call anyone monkeys, especially since you dance to my tune whenever I warm up the tabla.

Nobody here cares what I look like. You're such an ...... You think you've uncovered some dark secret that nobody knows. My picture (along with tons of others here) has been posted many times. Unlike you I have no fear of being exposed - because there's nothing to expose. On the other had we don't know (and don't care) what you look like because like all shame-based, whiny ..... trolls you're a coward who hides behind the anonymity of a fake name. Just another brainless monkey flinging .... at passersby. Thing is, we get to have real lives while you're stuck in your cage of social ineptitude.

Dance monkey, dance!
No one is exposing you. I am just laughing my ... off at the twig like old fart with a hare krishna complex who wants to play tough guy on the internet.

Offer still stands, curryfart. Come down to Misano, we can see who rides, who attends races and who will feel their vertebrae being pulled out of their esophagus.

You game?

Misano is one of my least favorite tracks. Was going to COTA but still in too much pain after surgery.

Planning to go to Assen and hopefully Silverstone this year.

If you actually own a bike - post a picture of you on it. Put up or shut up.

Ahahaha. As expected, tough guy on the internet, chickenshit in real life.

Ok, once I win the lottery and get the money together I'll give you a shout.:D
Bagsy driving though, even if I have bugger all race experience.

You'd need a licence to race one, even club racing needs a licence. BTW sidecar racing is dangerous, the least the passenger would get if they came off at speed is a visit to a hospital. So you'd better be good :)

Sidecars is the only form of motorcycle road racing I have ever wanted to do and whilst I have not raced I have been lucky enough to do a few laps (as the swinger/passenger) and absolutely loved it ......... highly recommended and addictive.

Never took it on nor raced for a number of reasons and have never regretted it either - seen to many people I know or have known go to meetings and leave by means other than their own steam

Yeah its nasty when you come off, looks like a catherine wheel as you fly through the air and bounce all over the track, unless you get chucked into the armco.

Funny enough, I have seen a bunch of side car races and never seen one of those guys crash. I always assumed that if the "monkey" fell off he would just slide more likely than tumble, unless he was just unlucky as hell.

I've watched hundreds and only seen a handful come off, but 2 were bad, where the sidecars flipped.

Yamaha have brought an update for the M1 to this round. But only Rossi will be using it:

I took a spin on one, a very brief one. It's that weird thing of the closer you are to the ground, the faster you seem to be moving. Very unnerving - till I suppose your brain adjusts to it.

Actually, the latest generation of leathers must have some seriously trick stuff to ward off heat (or so I would imagine) given how often one sees racers go down in the course of practice. I got clipped at the end of the short straight at Mid-Ohio and slid a long way and got some serious burns from the heat generated from sliding.
