Interwetten Honda MotoGP Team have confirmed that test rider Akiyoshi will replace Hiroshi Aoyama at both Assen and Catalunya.

The news comes as the search for a longer term replacement for the injured Japanese rider continues.

2009 250cc World Champion Aoyama fractured a vertebra in a massive landslide during a warm up session crash at Silverstone last week, and was admitted to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

Fortunately, the rider suffered no complications, and will be transferred to Barcelona shortly, for further checks and a decision on therapy options.

In the meantime, the team has acquired Akiyoshi to ride the satellite RC212V at the TIM TT Assen, which takes place from June 24-26, and the Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya from July 2-4. The Japanese rider will wear the number 64.

No greenhorn, Akiyoshi is a former winner of the Suzuki 8 Hours, and has also tested for an injured Dani Pedrosa during last year's IRTA test. He also made four starts for Rizla Suzuki from 2006 to 2008, nabbing a thirteenth spot at Motegi in 2006.

Let's try something like a surprise:

1. Dovizioso

2. Stoner

3. Lorenzo

pole: Pedrosa

Pedro from the front row, will disappear into the distance, with Lorenzo and Stoner to fight out second.

1. Pedrosa

2. Lorenzo

3. Stoner

Hayden 4th again, for consistency.

As long as we get a good race, and not another crap Lorenzo celebration - I don't care.

Stoner's first win of the season with a pole to boot. 6sec+ advantage over the field by end of race.

Hayden 6th.

Randy podium.

Lorenzo 4th.

Well Stoner and Lorenzo throw down the gauntlet early, good to see Hayden in the top 3 for FP1. Espargaro making Kallio look bad.

Here on PS - "Predictions" are just another word for wishful thinking. Nobody ever gets it right.

I came so close last week that I retire from predictions. Well atleast for a little while......kinda like a boxer. So I say,

.... predictions!

Nice first practice for Hayden.

Some time ago somebody gave a description of the speed measuring method, and added that it was not very accurate.

I think all their accuracy goes into timing and speed measurement is seen as just a luxury for the "obscurely obsessed"
<

, hence they aren't a real good indication of reality.

Nicky looking good...so far. We will see what happens in the race, which I predict will be hard for me to hold breath for 45 minutes. I best start taking deep breaths now.

Yes, gearing. This is a major part of it. But this won't stop people from fixating on the speed charts and make silly conclusions.

I bet they've positioned the speed trap slightly within the braking zone for the next corner. It wouldn't be the first time....

I'll withold a guesstimate 'till FP2 tomorrow.  For now, it's good to see Colin acting like he still cares....

They should have GP's this often more often. It's time for Team Ducati to step up to the podium!

Halfwat through Fp2

Casey looking good.

Nicky in.... 4th.... with a fragged motor.  I guess they now know how far the lump will go.

J-Lo sets fast lap, but on a soft rear.

Haystack hauls himself back to ... 4th.... then wads it.

Pie Man steals 4th.

Stoner looking good, with best race pace, a hair faster than Lorenzo.

Peddles steals 3rd after a lackluster session - didn't notice the tire.
