Question - who's buying serious sport bikes

Ive had 5 new Sports bikes since 07

07 Fireblade

08 GSXR 1000

09 GSXR 1000

2010 KTM RC8

2011 Yamaha R1 (Love that Motor)

And in a little over 4 weeks will take delivery of a 2012 B.M.W S1000RR Fire Blue

My mrs says she will leave me if i buy another bike, but she loves me... well i think she does.

Anywho i love all the Prototype bikes in Motogp all that Tech is filtering down to us the consumers, just think we wouldnt have T.C Anti Wheelie, A.B.S withou Prototype racing....

6 new bikes in 6 years !!!

Expensive habit.

Looks like Honda, Suzuki, KTM, Yamaha and BMW have all had benefit from you.

For me if I had money first I would change my stupid piece of .... Chinese fake version of 197X (don't know the exact year)Honda CG125 (shown in the picture) ASAP (The only bike my compatriot engineers can build for 30 or 40 ....... years) and I would choose:

1) Honda CBR1000 .... because it is a Honda. I started to watch Motogp because I liked Honda since I was a kid, So I went for the top Honda team and rider two years ago.

2) BMW S1000rr .... Because it is a monster and I love brutal engine power

3) I would also like to try a ZX14 or a Hayabusa for a lonely road trip

And I also try a Redbull energy drink every once in a while ... just for the passion of Motogp.

As for the leathers and accessories I would like to go for some ordinary original Arai, Shoe, Nolan helmets.

Last few years selection... of 'serious' bikes only. There's a shedload more of scooters, rat bikes, tiddlers, etc. But i never buy new - only once, never again.

GSXR1000RR

S1000RR

K1300S

K1200RS

Futura 1000

RSVR 1000 Factory

Tuono 1000 Factory

Monster S2R (and about £3000 of carbon!)

Guzzi LM 1100

I'm sure theres more...

I smoke Marlboro, when I smoke at all. Don't drink 'sports' drinks - beer and water are fine.

You wouldn't ever want a Huyabusa for a lonely road trip, believe me... great for ridiculous speeds, though

My latest race bike is an RSV4 Factory that is race prepped. I bought that over an 1199 for the one reason that the MotoGP technology used in the 1199 didn't work. Add to that, that Checa was going to quit and ride for BMW if Ducai made him defend his championship on the 1199, because it was slower than his 1098R. Pretty simple. If it doesn't work in racing, it won't work for me.

Thanks for the advice .. I will keep that in mind. I prefer ZX14 but a Hayabusa is great too.

I ride a ZX12R that just turned 78000 miles. Many many road trips involved. I will say that we rarely hit the slabs unless we are wanting to get home fast. When we do hit the slabs, we make serious time and have a lot of fun. Coming back from Mid Ohio a couple of years ago, we hooked up with a guy in a Maserati who was in a hurry and played with him till we had to stop for gas.Having 180 hp and gobs of torque lets you effortlessly play in sixth gear between 90-120. The big bore rocketships are not the most comfortable bikes in the world, and i am usually looking forward to a gas stop, but ....... they are hoot to ride.

I love it when you can open the throttle at top gears and the engine goes like it is not bothering it. playing with the throttle in fifth or sixth gear on a road just like what you did is one of my dreams. Good Job

Boys need not apply, thats a mans bike

New Triumph Daytona 675. Would like to switch to a new Speed Triple or Tiger next year, we will see.

Got a USED CBR600RR for the track this year, loved my Triumph more but parts availability sold me on the Honda. I would've bought an R6 if the right one came along.

The only thing MotoGP related that I would like is some Pit shirts, hats, etc. Doesn't drive my bike purchases.

Never owned a sports bike. Mainly trailies, (Transalp, XLs, Tenere, DRs, F650gs, Aprilia Pegaso and the rest!) and street bikes. I like a bike I can ride any time, that wont have me shittin it on a wintery Orkney or Scottish morning.

I did used to wear a Rossi rep helmet, (now on a shelf in my office at work) and I did eat San Carlo chips in Italy the other week. Oh aye, and when Niall Mac was sponsored by Boost bars, I ate them.

Thats the impact racing has had on my buying.

I have to admit though, I'm a total sucker for the red white blue HRC paint jobs of the old RC/NC and XRVs of the past. My brother has a 750 Africa Twin in RWB, and it looks the mutts nutt!

I've only had a CBR250 and my current CBR954 (which I love) and I don't want to get rid of it. But I couldn't justify buying a brand new bike, or car for that matter. Something close to new would be the best as it's the same as a brand new bike, just with a couple of dollars taken off.
