Folger has been my rider of choice since the beginning of last season, so I was bummed to see him crash out. Hell of a ride by Luthi. And race direction (or whatever the hell they are now) has to do a better ....... job. Sending some of the riders for their ride through early and waiting until the end for the others is .........

Race distraction really did a horrible job today. Alex Marquez say possibly something happened with the lights. I like his conviction.

That is ...... up. Rins is half a second a lap faster than Morbidelli, yet finishes behind him because he had a ride through and Morbidelli only gets 20 second time penalty. He should not be allowed to finish in fron of Rins, Lowes, orZarco

Lowes only moved a fcuking inch/25mm and stopped before setting off again.
So much for the new reg a rider can move and stop before setting off, However this is at RD discretion. Fcuktards:mad:

Back to GP, Ianoone breaks speed record in warm up and is 8 mph faster than the factory Honda. Crutchlow says the new Honda engine is a dog compared to last year, it's even slower than the Yamaha's

I won't clutter up the Moto 2 section much, but I will say satellite Honda strikes again.

Post had me rolling bro. I heard Alex Marquez on the feed. Not only were his words fickle, but did you hear his tone? Jesus. It was like someone was turning down the volume on his lungs.

The thing is he actually had a point. It was one of the first things I noticed, only 2 lights went on and it was confusing.

Alex Lowes got ....... Reminded me when DMG were penalizing people jump starts to punish dissension.

Morbideli and Cortese were the worst offenders. But Race Distraction figured it out 4 laps from the end, at that point if they would have issued the order to ride through, the rider could have ignored it since they have 4 laps to comply. Not only that but according to rules the riders is supposed to be notified within 4 laps of the infraction. Therefore Morbideli and Cortese can appeal and technically get it overturned. I'm sure Race Indiscretion won't follow their own rules, but rules are rules.

Mike Webb should tender his resignation. Luthi took unnecessary risk. I was really hoping Morbideli would win so to make this situation more ridiculous.

Webb is blaming a 'Technical' Issue:

Race director Mike Webb has explained why some jump-start penalties took much longer to be issued than others, during Sunday's season-opening Qatar Moto2 Grand Prix.

No less than eight riders, including numerous race favourites, were punished for jumping the start.

Ride-through penalties for Alex Rins, Johann Zarco, Sam Lowes, Marcel Schrotter, Robin Mulhauser and Takaaki Nakagami were issued within five minutes.

However Franco Morbidelli and Sandro Cortese didn't receive notification until the end of the race.

Both were then given a 20-second time penalty, which was most significant for Morbidelli, who had battled Thomas Luthi for victory and found himself demoted from second to seventh.

Webb firstly explained that Race Direction found no evidence of lights flickering or being held on for an excessively long time. "The red lights disappeared after three-seconds and the rule is two-five seconds".

However there was a 'technical issue' with the jump-start camera recording and playback system, meaning some images would not display correctly. This did not affect all riders, which is why six penalties could be given immediately, but the Morbidelli and Cortese jump starts could only be officially confirmed once the system was fixed, which took some time.

Because a ride-through penalty must be communicated before the end of the fourth lap, the pair then had to be given a 20-second time penalty instead.

That seemed less than the time lost by those given a ride-though and Webb confirmed: “We are aware that 20-seconds does not accurately reflect the ride-through time at every circuit, so we are asking the GP Commission to look at this rule.”

Responding to comments that Morbidelli's jump start was obvious enough to be given immediately, even without footage from the dedicated camera, Webb explained:

“Clear evidence is required which is why we have a camera [500fps] on each rider with the red lights shown in the same frame, so it is clear and evidential whether the rider moves before the red light is out.

“The TV feed of the start shows the bikes but not the red lights in the same frame for every bike, so even if on TV it looks like a jump start, it is not hard evidence - a bike leaving earlier than the others could be just because the others were slow.

“And of course long gone are the days when we relied on a grid marshal to call in a jump start, so the dedicated jump start cameras are the only hard evidence, regardless of what the teams on pit wall see.

“A jump start is defined as moving forward at the moment the red lights go out, it's a matter of fact and there's no decision on whether an advantage has been gained or not.

“There is a judgement on advantage in the case of a rider who moves a little while the red lights are on, but stops again and is stationary when the red lights go out. In this case we look to see if they have moved a long way, i.e. what position they are in when they do actually start.

“All of the jump starts penalised in Qatar were that standard 'matter of fact', moving forward when the red lights go out.

First of all, i don't believe a thing Mike Webb says. Second, I don't believe a thing Mike Webb says. Perhaps the cameras were also defective at Sepang since apparently Webb can make decisions in a timely fashion.

I wonder at what point they realized the camera system was defective. If they realized early, delaying the decision for all would have been more fair, issuing the same 20 sec penalty on account of a defective system. He had no problem waiting till the end of race for Sepang. This race has just as much an impact on the championship as race 17. Also, how did it become un-defective to determine Morbideli and Cortese's jump start (since apparently the dedicated system is the only one he claims can offer evidence). And can we rely anybody else jumped the start or not. He's saying the only determination they can rely on is the dedicated camera, that is ......... Once he has determined a rider has jump the start he can use the general feed camera by using the timing calibrated to a jump started rider. Its call use of common sense. Which Mike Webb has none.

What I found interesting in the abovestatement from Mike Webb was this:

“Clear evidence is required which is why we have a camera [500fps] on each rider with the red lights shown in the same frame, so it is clear and evidential whether the rider moves before the red light is out."

Without trying to flog a dead horse, I find it highly hyprocritical that he says that yet last year in Malaysia he stated that "We believe" Marc Marquez was hindering Rossi's race pace.

So Mike, you don't punish Morbidelli when even on the TV camera we the viewers had, his jump start was arguably the most obvious, because you had no clear evidence, but you have still provided ZERO clear evidence about Marquez in Sepang 2015 while making statements about his intent.

Double standards much?

That's an excellent point 22.

In one case he needs absolute evidence, which according to him can only be drawn by a particular camera (no not other cameras filming the same .... at the same time.) But he must have had a special brain waves camera that interpreted Marquez's brain wave patterns and thoughts?

Personally I feel that nowadays the mania that surrounds Valentino almost instills fear of doing or saying anything against him in case one feels the backlash of their actions. Even on Internet forums this happens, on Eurosport forums anyone even mentioning anything negative of Valentino gets dogs abuse.

Oh PLEASE give me a link, I could do with a laugh.

It's just Eurosport's own forum, I use the app. If you go on be careful though as even the moderators must be pro Rossi, they ban you at the drop of a hat because the Rossi fans must use the report button. You need an new email address each time you get banned too. It's a real pain but can be a laugh. It's dead at the moment due to the race results or it'd be swamped with custard.

Under the new gag order rules, if Marquez said 'we know why we have these tires but we dare not say' would get him sanctioned. Like when Lorenzo commented on Mike Webb's failure to issue a black flag, by saying 'Rossi's name is too big in the sport'. Remember how people jumped all over him as being undignified? Pedrosa was suddenly Jesus for not saying anything of the injustice. (Which is funny because Jesus was all about calling out injustices.) Riders will be less inclined to point out favoritism.
