.....can someone tell me why the desert gets the first race of the season?

Would have been better if we start at Jerez imo.

Guess they have some £wonga$ to throw Dornas way................speaking of Dorna, wonder when they move out of GP? Can be long off now.

couse they they want to get in and out of hell as soon as possible!!!

Yeah it does seem pretty pointless.. I think the first GP should be somewhere with big crowds and decent weather..

I think Laguna Seca could be an ideal candidate.. seems really hot and the crowds seem pretty big

I would say Donington but it would just pss it down with rain

cause of the heat... cooler in March. but i agree........ place to start the season... attendance is what 3000 people?...actually would be a good place to go see the race...no people..might be able to meet all the ryders there..

Tis the F1 circuit which also hosts a 24 hour race and would gain much more attendances than Qatar IMO.

DETAILS

And CIRCUIT info.

Yes, this was also the reason why Bush attacked Iraq before the summer heat..

Actually, Bahrain and Sepang are great places to meet and see all the riders and teams b/c of the lack of fans.

I personally don't like to go to Laguna b/c there's only the MGP class..

Sepang was packed out - well, 45k of fans - the main grandstand was heaving - but K1 stand was dead.......not as easy as you may think!

I think its great that the first race of the season is Doha!!!
Saturday race !!
My mates and i are organising a first race of the season party at our local pub!!
All day sunday to recover YEEEE HAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

I think the quatar race being first makes sense in terms of the extreme heat, but also, with the calender now being 18 races, they need to get one in early to stop the summer being too hectic. and of all the races, it makes most sense to move a middle eastern race to the start of the calender.

I understand where you're coming from, but I think the first Grand Prix should be somewhere with atmosphere. I don't think Qatar even comes close to providing this.

I dunno, Tom. Things sure will be "Heating up" at the first round!

It's the Qatari oil prince toyboys who decided to pay even more money to Dorna to get their race first. I can't wait to see what these guys are gonna do when the run outta crude.
