Strange race. Made interesting by the late rain. I and probably everyone else was surprised that the leaders came into pit.

The rain at the end robbed us of what was probably going to be a decent battle however it threw up some real interesting propositions. Well done to Binder. He just went for it. Balls the size of Volkswagen’s.

That overtake from Quartararo was pretty special. Marquez looked like he had hit some form again, whether it was tyre choice or not remains to be seen.

I'm thinking miller had slicks on his second bike. Need to rewatch to see the tyre when he exits the garage area

I don't think you can swap bikes for the same set up once it is declared wet. The tires must be different if I remember correctly. Plus knowing there was a chance of rain the bike would have been set up with rain tires and steel brakes.

Yeah kudos to Binder.
He deserved the win by staying upright whilst staying out on slicks.
Disappointed MM dropped it on the wets but very encouraged to see him up the front again prior to the bike swap.
Good race.
Fabio is looking good.
Far more consistent and measured than he was previously.
How much can be attributed to working with a psychologist I don't know, but he is improved.

Said it before, Fabs was great two seasons back, less consistent last year because he was on the new and improved chassis. This year IIRC he has the 2019 chassis that works for him. Had he used the 2019 chassis last year, the championship would have been his.

Nothing else to add to what has been posted here.

Great race.

Great ride on Sunday by me. I ripped it up in mixed conditions while Keshav was banging away at his keyboard, wishing he knew how to ride a motorbike.
I wonder what that feels like to have no motorbike and no life

How much his work with a psychologist has helped I don't know.

He seems to attribute some of his resilience to it though.

I dunno…. These young guys are not I would think, terribly self-aware. And why should they be at that age? My take, FWIW - is he was a bit angry at himself for not winning the championship in 2020. Everybody was telling him (based on 2019 results) that he had it in the bag. That’s a ....-load of pressure. From what he says he only had a few visits with the shrink, and you don’t need to be a licensed therapist to know, nobody has a major psychological breakthrough in that short a period of time. Fabs just needed to have someone pat him on the back and tell him to not obsess over a disappointing year on wonky chassis.

Yeah how would any of us know.
He is going well and will need to .... up badly from here to miss out.

I thought his poise and passing were both phenomenal this past weekend.

He is maturing and whatever he’s doing, it’s working.

I did get the meaning, but why they refer to volkswagens and not lets say nissans or bmw's? What's so big about volkswagens?

That's a bloody good question.
I heard it in a movie once (the ugly truth) and it just always stuck with me.
Volkswagen did make the combi which was a pretty decent size car in its day so maybe that's why?
