<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Austin @ Jul 25 2008, 08:39 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>May 31st – Italy, Mugello
July 19th – Germany, Sachsenring
September 13th – San Marino, Misano
September 20th – Hungary, Balaton
October 4th – Portugal, Estoril
November 8th – Valencia, Ricardo Tormo Valencia

I know it's quite early, but anyone interested in going to any of these rounds? I'm planning on going to Donny and possibly one of these as well.

Mugello is pretty much pencilled in, as is Donny now that it moved back a month and is no longer back to back with Assen.
And then depending on time and money left, I may do Estoril or Valencia as well.

loves European budget airlines

If Donny's moved...that means Ben won't have his grandest bday ever there as it won't fall on his day anymore...

aww shucks, i'm planning to go there just for the party...

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Bikergirl @ Jul 26 2008, 01:45 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>That's quite likely to be the case. I met Schwarzenegger's environmental policy maker a few months back. She was so intent on pointing out that California is a "separate country" from the rest of the US and so much more ahead on env policies. Hmm...

California is a joke. Their interpretation of green is extremely narrow-minded. I respect their right to behave as an independent autonomous nation within the United States (that's how a federation supposed to work), but their progressive culture is an unmitigated disaster. I've never seen so many millions of people eager to impose suffering on themselves by means modern Draconian philosophy.

Over the years the government has slowly infringed upon the individual in order to coordinate our efforts. History has proven they are completely incompetent leaders in the long run. Two areas the government has used regulation to socially engineer us are housing and transportation. The green movement seeks to reform both aspects of human life, and in many instances, the reform would drastically reduce the prevalence of government. Reducing the prevalence of government is not a virtue worthy of pursuing in the minds of policy makers

so they endlessly badger us with progressive rhetoric about self-sacrifice for mother earth.

When I was in college, I had a young attractive government professor from California who labeled herself as a progressive. Needless to say we did not get along. Then I wrote a hilarious paper about solar energy and individual autonomy. I surmised that urban infrastructure (if left unregulated) would end up mimicking the behavior of forest growth because all surface area would be competing for light. After she read it, I'm pretty sure she spent the remainder of the class trying to seduce me
<
She was insane.

Anyway, I said all that to say this:

There are few people on this planet more mislead by incompetent policy makers than the decent people of California. Even so, the evil empire (CARB) is not dumb enough to ban 2-strokes for racing competition.

well the redbull rookies are 2 strokes and they raced at laguna !

I'm sorry guys. I've got that info from my local sport TV. Where the hell did they get that info ? ...
<

I would love to see 125 & 250 in Laguna too.

Calendar seems pretty much the same as usual. I still miss a round in South America and maybe Africa (it supposed to be a WORLD championship)

Wont shed a tear for China, the track is really not so good for bikes, was designed for F1 and the lack of fans made it a bit sad. And most importantly the timezone was not good for me living in Europe!

No worries Rog.

We've talked about this before, and I have yet to hear an official "why they don't race 125/250 at Laguna" excuse. Plenty of theories, but I imagine it has something to do with the AMA and their desire to showcase that series during the same weekend, and the fact that Dorna doesn't think Americans will like 2 stroke racing (total hogwash in my opinion, as they have been taking the full series to crap places like China/Malaysia/Qatar where the stands are empty) again, a theory.
<
Perhaps if Indy is successful, they might bring the 2 strokes to the west coast in the future, lets hope.

i think the "american not liking 2 stroke racing" line is bollocks. i think its more a case of there's to many other races going on there at that weekend. from what i saw there was big interest in the redbull rookie race which are 2 strokes.

when motogp first went to laguna i was very sceptical, i thought motogp might end up a side show to AMA but i was very wrong, from what i experienced motogp was most definatly the main show and the 2 stroke races looked to be very popular too.

I'm liking the Back end of July British GP date, if it was this week it would be perfect wouldnt it, well at least bloody warm, dryish and not howling a bloody gale.

As long as they never cancel, Laguna and Estoril, Jerez and Mugello and Valencia I couldn't give a .....

I think that Dorna may have made the smartest move ever to move Laguna Seca to independence day weekend (4th of July) I think that attendence will be up around this weekend as many people are out and about traveling for the summer. This will be very good for promoting the race and the sport in general. On the flipside I will have to put up with way more people to get in and out of the race. Also it will be tough to convince the wife to skip out on the family stuff to be at the races
<

I still think they need to go to WSBK or AMA formula and have two races at each spot.

Have just realised that the first race on 12th april would be easter sunday? Can't remember there being races on Easter? Or is it just my memory failing? Would be great if it IS easter as could definitely make it...hmmm...when does the 'provisional' become 'fixed'?
