A few changes, then. Shanghai is out, and the interesting new circuit (assuming it gets built in time) in Hungary is in. Laguna Seca will be before the German GP, with Donington the last one before the summer break.

Looks like no big gaps apart from the summer break, either.

And Motegi will be the second race of the season (I may get to 2 GPs in about 6 months!).

Edit: Seems like I stuffed up the link the first time; just head to MotoGP.com...

I'm not happy to see the Chinese track out of the schedule but I'm no fan of China. The summer break thing is so European. I can't remember taking 2 weeks off in a row more than twice in the last 10 years. Having a month long summer break seems odd as they have all winter off.

Yeah the schedule was definitely interesting. Going to have to start planning holidays soon.

From a practical perspective, it's pretty useful for everyone to have a month to heal up before the final push for the championship.

And they don't exactly have the whole winter off either.

They test until early December, then go and get surgery, have a stuffed turkey, go back to testing in January, February and March and do PR on the side.

<span style="font-size:8pt;line-height:100%and if you are Pedrosa you have more surgery in February and don't show up again until Qatar.

The same time as Catalunya and Valencia? GPs haven't all been named after countries. Motegi used to be the Pacific Grand Prix as well. There was also, for example, the Imola GP so naming after a city isn't new either.

From a spectator's perspective I am sad to see China go especially since I could watch my ducati go down the straight and power past everyone. From a gamer perspective I hated that track but grew to like it. OVerall sad to see it go but they had hardly anyone attending the races. It may be back in the future when they have more of a fanbase.

July 19th – Germany, Sachsenring
September 13th – San Marino, Misano
September 20th – Hungary, Balaton
October 4th – Portugal, Estoril
November 8th – Valencia, Ricardo Tormo Valencia

I know it's quite early, but anyone interested in going to any of these rounds? I'm planning on going to Donny and possibly one of these as well.

For 2009 thinking possibly Qatar. Would love to do Mugello or San Marino. Valencia always an option too.

The enforced ban is a couple of months alone. Hey when you make a few mill E/yr you can afford a decent holiday(s).

Anyone tell me why no lower classes at Laguna? I would love to see the 125's and 250's race there.

Just been reading in another forum that there are a lot of comments (none positive) relating to the Laguna Seca round as it is on the Independence Day weekend.

Interesting to see what comments it elicits here.

That's quite likely to be the case. I met Schwarzenegger's environmental policy maker a few months back. She was so intent on pointing out that California is a "separate country" from the rest of the US and so much more ahead on env policies. Hmm...

I don't think that's it, Red Bull Rookies Cup was racing there on their 125s.

The arrogance of some people is astounding. Not you BG, just that this woman thinks California is so progressive. They certainly have some environmentally friendly ideas and strive to be environmentalists but it's not as if the rest of the country is anti-'green'.

Here in Minnesota, outdoor activities are a part of life. We have something like 22,000 lakes in our border so swimming, fishing etc. are just apart of life in the summers and in the winters many people either ski, snowboard or play hockey. Frankly, Minnesotans are blindly 'green' and don't support any sort of policies that won't help the environment. So it's hard for me to sit here and listen to someone say how much more progressive California is than anyone else in the states. No doubt, they are amongst the leaders in trying to clean this country up, but Minnesota and I'm sure a few others are just as forward thinking.
