So this is the big rumour I'm sure we've all heard...Sounding more and more like a done deal.
Can he challenge the all conquering god of MotoGP...Marc Marquez?
I think not.
Discuss....

I don't think there's much to discuss especially regarding your question about him being able to challenge Marc. At the back there's the lack of pressure and opponents tend to not be that competitive for long. If they are, then they are quickly snatched up by the front running teams. I think Pol is a hard-working and keen rider with a fabulous attitude. Repsol Honda may have made the correct decision under the circumstance. He has a lot of experience both on the grid and with bike development. No better time for him to have a go in a competitive race seat than now. Good luck to him.

He was once touted as a Yamaha factory rider. I can’t see how AM going up against MM as a rookie would have made either rider happy.

If MM finally does completely wreck his shoulder HRC are not well placed though imo. I can’t see AM ever getting to his brother’s level, not exactly a unique status, but could see him towards the pointy end of the field eventually, but this would likely take time as it did in moto2.

Definitely wish Pol all the best, hard worker, not afraid to wrestle a bike around... which seems to be what the RC213V needs.
I actually think that he'll be really successful on it and maybe even catch Marc out on the odd occasion but can't see him challenging him for the title.
By successful I mean a regular podium contender.

Pol is well liked at KTM, and probably would have a more lucrative contract with the Austrian make. However the Honda has won 6 of the last 7 championships, though only one rider has been able to do that... I can understand why Pol would want to go to Honda, and that is to win races and have a shot at a championship. But Marc is Honda's number 1 rider, and he has a long deal. So I am not exactly sure how well he will fit at Honda, after being a number 1 at KTM.

I dont think Alex will do well on the Honda, I think that was part of getting a deal done with Marc. if I was Honda I would be looking at someone like Bagnaia, he's young, knows how to win, and I think coming off a Ducati he might like the Honda.
