<{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Mate as much as i agree that he is a sour faced little prick, there is no doubt in my mind he is good enough to win a Motogp world championship. He won 3 world titles in 125 and 250cc, the hardest competition there is, you dont do that if your a fluke, you say Nicky was the man in 06 surely you dont think he is better then Pedrosa? id still rate Danni the third best rider in the world.
Well Dani has had the benefit of having all resources and development go his way for a long time now, which goes a long way of explaining to me why he's at the sharp end of the field (good talent + tailored machine= good results). But there is a significant stretch from being a race winner to a title winner. His "world" (as you call them) titles in the lower feeder series are more competitive? In relation to what??? The talent pool? Isn't that a bit like saying its very hard to win the college "world" series of baseball, like here in the US? Yeah, there are allot of very talented college players, and a large number of colleges all trying to win the 'College "World" Series' but really, is that the Big Leagues?
I'm tired of hearing that the 125/250 mean anything accept that they are a stepping stone for the Big Leagues. Period. (Perhaps, as Babel & Tom argue that at one time they were more prestigous, bla bla, but certainly not now.) So I will agree with you in that they are difficult to come by, (college championship among college talent) but that is because the class is a minor league where some of the time, the best surface; and from there, the real big boys hash it out. And even then its not all roses because of the lack of parity.
I'd rate Loris above Dani if all things were even. Why talk about Hayden if that was already settled in 06. There is an ebb and flow in racing, Dani has been a good talented rider (I'll agree with you), but it takes alittle more to be a title holder in the big leagues.
