It will be very shity if he aint back for Qatar.

I really like to see all the reall contenders fight from the begin.

so,we have to hope that none of the rest get injured in the comming test.

so true i think they should roll out the 990's again

if they rolled out the 990's with up to date electronics today, I don't think there would be any uninjured rider on the grid this season IMO.

you mean a 990 isnt as dangerous as a 800 these days?

you'll get the same bike with even more power

no, the 990 was heavier, carried less speed in the corners and that's why it was safer.

thats an old 990...

if you go back to 990 in these times... it will be an 800 with 20 more hp...

no, the 990 was the same weight as an 800. it had much more torque and had a fearsome reputation. the riders gave it some respect and rode accordingly, thats why there were less lorenzo-land high sides.

Nearly, but no banana....990 had ample torque so when rear span up the riders could keep it spinning therefore not allow 'sudden traction syndrome' i.e. highside! 800 cc has 'horsepower, but obviously less torque available... HP is a function of torque x rpm so 800 delivers similar HP figure by increasing rpm. 800's much more 'twitchy' machine compared to smokin 990!

Were they not made 800's to be safer? Does anyone have an idea or know what that stats are of crashes from the 990 era to the 800?

I'm pretty sure there have been more bad crashes in 800 era. Lowslides and small runoffs/dumps aren't crashes in my book.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Stoner 27 @ Mar 7 2009, 04:09 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Mate as much as i agree that he is a sour faced little prick, there is no doubt in my mind he is good enough to win a Motogp world championship. He won 3 world titles in 125 and 250cc, the hardest competition there is, you dont do that if your a fluke, you say Nicky was the man in 06 surely you dont think he is better then Pedrosa? id still rate Danni the third best rider in the world.

Well Dani has had the benefit of having all resources and development go his way for a long time now, which goes a long way of explaining to me why he's at the sharp end of the field (good talent + tailored machine= good results). But there is a significant stretch from being a race winner to a title winner. His "world" (as you call them) titles in the lower feeder series are more competitive? In relation to what??? The talent pool? Isn't that a bit like saying its very hard to win the college "world" series of baseball, like here in the US? Yeah, there are allot of very talented college players, and a large number of colleges all trying to win the 'College "World" Series' but really, is that the Big Leagues?

I'm tired of hearing that the 125/250 mean anything accept that they are a stepping stone for the Big Leagues. Period. (Perhaps, as Babel & Tom argue that at one time they were more prestigous, bla bla, but certainly not now.) So I will agree with you in that they are difficult to come by, (college championship among college talent) but that is because the class is a minor league where some of the time, the best surface; and from there, the real big boys hash it out. And even then its not all roses because of the lack of parity.

I'd rate Loris above Dani if all things were even. Why talk about Hayden if that was already settled in 06. There is an ebb and flow in racing, Dani has been a good talented rider (I'll agree with you), but it takes alittle more to be a title holder in the big leagues.

What the ....?? ........ dani had a bike built by Honda after they bullshited Ezy and the powers to make the series an 800 series. So he should have won evey title by now. Ya know why he hasn't? Casue he is to busy sucking puigs ego and trying to live up to the hype that he ISN'T. He will never be a champ unless someone buys it for him say...... Repsol if they really want a spanish champ. I wouldn't put it past them since this type of thing really isn't out of the question. Hey and who doesn't need money these days since Obama is going to start taking more of it in the US? If pedrosa was so awesome he should have easily beaten the likes of Valentino and surely Hayden and mostly Stoner on a bike that he can only ride all the while others do pretty well on the hondas for the most part. What does that really tell you guys? I bet he won't be a Honda rider for long if he sucks again and comes in anything but the CHampion. Can you say Repsol Honda rider Jorge Lorenzo. Now that dude is friggin good and tough as hell to boot. He is scary fast and I hope he rides a Ducati. Ok ok I know that isn't gonna happen.

Pedrosa is no doubt the 3rd best rider in the world. if he were not there it would be rossi and stoner and third place would be way back.

he is, after all a former 125 and 250 world champ...let's not forget that people.

i only wish i had a small dose of his moto talent!!

Insists the bike doesn't change much then crashes is anyway. Bad times.

Plenty of guys crash. Pedro seems to crack in at least 2 places everytime he goes down.
RIDER WEIGHT MINIMUMS??????!!!!!
