Travis Pastrana will enter NASCAR's Nationwide Series in select races for 2011 under his own team with support from Waltrip Racing. Pastrana plans to run 20 races in the series in 2012. This comes on the back of Pastrana's four American Rally championships and a self-described "horrible" foray into World Rally Championships. Fellow former motocrosser Ricky Carmichael made his debut in the Nationwide series in 2010 with a best finish of 18th after two seasons in the NASCAR Camping World Trucks Series.

Kinda sad. A few struggles in WRC and he gives it up?

He's just another Red Bull pawn. A.J. Allmendinger, Scott Speed, not Pastrana.

Sigh

I'd of thought that Nascar would be a bit boring for Pastrana given his natural talents, for exciting riding, just driving round and round and round

and round and round and round!

I turned on Speed last week when they were running at Talledaga. It looked no different than watching cars drive by on the freeway.

I just don't get it.

If he was a Red Bull pawn they would have given him his own set up rather than him buying in on his own. He's one of the biggest names Red Bull has and despite how terrible NASCAR is, it's been proven to be an extremely unique form of motorsport that even the most talented of individuals have struggle to conquer. Backing one of their golden boys in such an uncertain situation is a huge risk for them. I think this is Pastrana's work.

Money and fame.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner.

just read that a few minutes ago on nascar.com. its confirmed he's in for 7 races in '11. i doubt he'll be any good. being a daredevil in motorsports is not always a good thing

look at montoyas records in f1 and currently in nascar. he wants it all or nothing.
