Your Mom's House
I have to admit, I'm susceptible to an "American bubble" as you say. So uncover my hoodwink Mick. How is "... tourism" kosher (pardon the Jewish reference). I've read about say healthcare tourism, dental tourism, and in my part of the woods, real estate tourism (Chinese tour busses buying properties cash from the comfort of their bus here), but how is '... tourism' in SE Asia a worthy activity for us Westerners (you live in Thailand or Indonesia? Sorry forget). Honest curiosity Mick, I won't attack your answer. Truth be told, I do have a negative outlook about it, based on what I've hear and read in the States. I know news can be very bias. But I'm also not a square in the sense I love to look at .... and ... like most guys, and I've paid my fair share to strip clubs and tittie bars. I even went to one in Vegas with some girl friends where the upstairs floor was designed for the females (or males, if you're into that) featuring male strippers and downstairs for female strippers. So I partake of the visual skin industry. For those living in a 'Murican bubble: ... tourism is not equal to pimped prostitution or ... slavery... but keep spouting your ignorant and uninformed views, its great entertainment!.
I've traveled to Asia in my youth, my military buddies would tell me lots of stories on our ports of call in SE Asia. Just never appealed to me. Educate me, as a person who lives there I'd like to get your perspective.
