'Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) used the less than ideal conditions to perform a number of practice starts out of pit lane. After burning his clutch off the start in Austin, Rossi and his team have been working a lot with the clutch and his starts. Rossi spent the entire session practicing starts, immediately returning to the pit lane and not completing a time. Yamaha are clearly testing something new with Rossi’s clutch, but Massimo Meregalli remained tight lipped.'

Wonder if Lorenzo has acces to this?

Hodgson and Heuwen are always chuckling and enjoying the fact that Lorenzo's practice starts are less than perfect. Come race time though and Lorenzo's usually the first out of the traps...

Petrucci is running a special camera. I wonder if that is for TV viewers or monitoring something?

Meanwhile Redding gets wings:

Pirro is wild carding for Ducati.

That leaves 2 wild card entries left for them. They'll probably use one at Valencia for Pirro.

Eugene Laverty with a crash in turn 1...the bike was going high side, looked like he got on the throttle too early, somehow managed to get it to lowside.

Back wheel came around on him like the engine stalled or something. Very strange.

Iannone at the top of the sheets for FP2, only rider to break into the 1:47's.

Nearly half a second clear of Lorenzo.

Looks like I rolled my eyes too soon at Jums. :)

Should be interesting to see if Lorenzo can find a couple of more tenths in FP3. Iannone is looking strong, but Lorenzo being Lorenzo, he's going to be up there.

The Honda's look ghastly out there.

He still needs to actually finish, so I think your eye roll is safe.

Maybe, maybe not. Rossi has been a ...... starter for years and has won (or podiumed) many times coming from back in the pack, using his talent for riding on worn rubber and a hard front, on a bike made lighter by decreased fuel load. He did a lot of practice starts at the recent race he won. The competition is closer than it's ever been and he's older than he's ever been - so it would appear, that he's boning up on the one skill he's never bothered to develop in hopes of not having the three faster riders disappear over the course of the first three laps. At this stage, it's not looking good for Rossi for this race. Lorenzo really dominates here and Iannone is defo out to make a point.

Yeah to be honest I'm a bit surprised rossi didn't try more things last year to help is starts cos his quali has been better this year.

He is getting old, his reactions could be just ......., plus he is to busy pulling his crackers out his arse.

Think it would be wise to stay well clear of ianone on the first few laps in particular, he looks mad, and yes he doesn't seem like the brightest of folk.

Nice.

You might be better ringing the fire brigade kitty..... or at least email them ...... it must be faster than a forum post.

Unless you are unsure as to whether or not what you have there is in fact a fire? Hence the question mark.
Fires are usually red and yellow and hot ....or just a lot of smoke .... which later may become the big red and hot kind ...... is that what you want? ..... in which case you may want to type "FIRE !!" .... and then hope we have some member of a fire brigade on here.
