I didn't quite understand what they're gonna do. Are they going to name a building at the track after him, or a curve, or a fan area?

Like the circuit at Valencia is Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo

I guess Misano will be Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

Really? Wow, seems a bit much, but ok. Isn't this also Rossi's home circuit? I know he owns Mugello, but isn't this closer to Valentino's home? I'm just saying because I would think in the future, they would want to be associated with VR too.

That's ridiculous. An upjumped 250 rider that won his title against noone and spent 2 yrs crashing every week gets a circuit named after him because he got himself killed. Maybe they should name the gravel trap after him because he spent most of his time there.

Better yet they should rename the circus of misano after him. It would be more appropriate.

I can see them naming a building,a corner,a grandstand, a port o potty but not a whole circuit. He is just a footnote on motogp history. He is not a legend.

Marco's impact on the sport and his country goes well beyond his results on the track, that is obvious to anyone.

No. Humans love to memoralize their dead to great lengths. This is just another example of it

Why can't it be both? I'm not ruling out a bit of 'Senna syndrome', but i think you obviously have underestimated how many people valued Marco

Down with the humans!!!

I guess that Ricardo Tormo guy is memorialized to great lengths too eh?

It is definitely a decision based on emotion. In a couple of months they wouldn't change the name, but now that the events are fresh it's understandable. In Barcelona, the pro futbol team Espanol lost their captain to a sudden heart attack and there was talk of naming the new stadium after him. At first it seemed as thought the name was taking hold, but as a few months passed I think they named a stadium entrance with that bears his number after him. More similar to having a corner named after a racer I guess.

I think you could have aired you thoughts better without coming across as a complete .... imo

i think the phrase you are ineptly groping for is "Diana syndrome".

Why spoil the habit of a lifetime?

How frequently do you visit Rimini? Because I would have to believe only someone who frequents the area could comment on just how much Marco meant to the region.

Everyone has different levels of emotion and each chooses to express those emotions in their own way. Just because you don't give a .... doesn't mean no one else should nor does it entitle you to be an ........
