And anybody remembers how he earned is 2 victories?

He does have a better record than most of the current pilots, including is countryman Nakano. By the way, anybody knows why he goes and Nakano stays????

Tamada to Kwak WSBK

Well,
Tamada is a helluva rider and he beat Rossi and the rest of the paddock on a bridgestone Honda V5 Motegia and Brazil. His results and confidence went downhill after the switch to Michelin.

Nakano on the other hand has had a crappy Kawak. the bridgestones were his only saving grace.

I guess the powers that be in Japan thought that Nakano has never gotten a chance to shine on a first rate bike while Tamada on the other hand has. Not to mention Tamada is a superbike guy whose style might not suit the new 800cc while Nakano was a 250 demon with incredible development skills.

Hence Nakano gets on more shot while Tamada returns to superbike.

Honda have waited 2 years for Tamada to adpat to Michelins and re-discover his form, that is enough time to realize he is not going to make it.

Nakano has had just one season on a Honda, a season which has been disappointing. But he is still trading the credit he got from developing so well for Kawasaki and Bridgestone, now he's back on his prefered tyre we will see what he is really capable of. I fear it wont be enough, but then Honda will simply move onto the next Jap in the que, Bring on Kiyonari!!

He's a superb rider in my opinion but unfortunately he miscalculated and didn't read the politics of motogp properly.

Having started on the Pramac/Bridgestone Honda he was a test bed for Honda and Bridgestone in a single rider team and might have won at Motegi very early in development. When he went to Honda Pons he had a well funded and excellently run team behind him and that's when he had his best season and won his two races.

Then the boo-boys started saying it was the tyres and he wanted to prove them wrong (like Stoner). His biggest mistake was going to a brand new, inexperienced (Montiron especially), low level (but well funded) satellite team that neither Honda nor Michelin were going to supply in the same way he was used to at Pramac and Pons. If he had gone to Gresini instead he would probably still be in motogp, but alas that was not the case and I think he lost his motivation when he realized he'd burned his bridges by leaving Bridgestone. The Tech-3 ride was never going to work out because of the tyres.

I have a feeling he'll make an impact in WSBK next year on what is virtually a factory team.

Best of luck to Tamada.

he should come to British superbikes, more his level.

He earned his ride in motogp by smoking Bayliss and Edwards at Sugo (?) in WBSK's. Give the guy a break!!

Remember how "washed up" Bayliss was when he left Motogp? He went back to WSBK,won the title and then proceeded to annihilate the motogp field at Valencia on Gibernau's bike at the end of the season. It's all about machinery and confidence at this level.

Good Post.
I think that Tamada will also make an impact in superbike. We will see how he and Checa do on the Superbikes.

Thanks Duc.

I just read on another board that it was a kawasaki decision to take Tamada. If that's true then there are other implications to this move such as possible Motogp wildcard rides, Suzuka 8 hours and maybe a return to Motogp in the future. This may turn out to be an excellent career move for him.

How old is he?

He's 31 so maybe a motogp ride isn't in his future afterall. But you never know (Barros, Capirossi, Checa?) since he's Japanese.

There a few promising Japanese riders on their way up the ranks now though, so i can't see too much hope for Tamada in gp. I am shocked at the faith people have in him though. I mean sure Troy was rejected from GP and then won the superbike title but he had experience in doing that previously and moved onto the best bike and was actually not as weak as Tamada in his gp years. I think Tamadas performance wont look much different to Nieto's from this season.

That's the problem, there are only "promising" riders. There aren't any Harada's, Kato's and Nakano's in the 250's or anywhere else for that matter. Kiyonari is an unknown quantity when it comes to the top flight. Heck, I'd back Haga against anyone in motogp with the right equipment.

Nieto has never been anything special (his name gets him rides) and I feel that Tamada is a far more talented rider than him. The kwak is all new for 2008 and they're working closely with the motogp team, so we could see a few podiums or even a win.

His lack of movitivation is annoying, i remember him saying he didn't give 100% at one of the tracks this year simply because he didn't like that circuit.
