Starting this topic is probably like signing my own death warrant, but here I go.

Stoner vs Rossi, Ross vs Stoner

blah blah blah blah...............................................yawn.................................................yawn.........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Lets get one thing straight, ever since Stoner has come into Moto GP its the same argument oooh he's better oooooh blah blah blah.

The fact of the matter is that in every GP season both Stoner and Rossi have particapted in together neither of them have been in contention for the championship battling each other.

Either one has had a in-consistent bike i.e Rossi 07,11 Stoner 08,10 or have missed races for other reasons.

Until both of them have a real battle for the championship with decent ride-able bikes we cannot judge.

If there is a fight, comparison, VS that is the most fair then it is Lorenzo vs Stoner.

So if you want to argue and be a Fan-Boy/Girl for the time being they are your riders.

Lorenzo V Stoner has only been for the last few races, theres no real history between them so not much to say. Plus there's no Lorenzo V Stoner war of words yet. Stoner V Rossi has been going on since Stoner tried to join Yamaha in 07. The story goes Rossi singlehandedly blocked him when it was a done deal, and its been on ever since. 07 was interesting in that Rossi was on pole for a lot of the early races, so the Yamaha wasnt exactly a crap bike. They will never have all riders on equal bikes so not much point in trying to speculate. Simply say in 07 Stoner was the best, 08 and 09 Rossi, 10 Lorenzo, no excuses.

Whats there to clear up. Its crystal clear for anyone not wearing yellow shades. IF Stoner wins the title this year, he will be the dominant rider of the era. Even counting his Rookie year, he has more wins than Rossi since he joined the series. Seems pretty damn clear, since Casey came into MotoGp, he has out performed Rossi. To top it off, he has done the huge majority of that work on an inferior machine. Here is one to ponder, If Lorenzo wins the title this year he could be the rider of the 800 era. Its not inconcievable for him catch Rossi in wins during the era, and tie him with titles, all in one less year

To top it off, Stoner is the perfect sportsman to follow. If he wins, its great cause he is an Aussie, and if he loses its great cause he's a knob

Win/win situation hehehaha, oh my......

Viper-7........ I can tell you look at Rossi like a Senna, correct?

Anyways, don't even compare the two..............it'll be a disgrace to da man, the legend that is Ayrton Senna.

there you are boys and girls, make up your own minds

i just realised too that Rossi has accrued more w/c points than stoner since he has been around, but stoner has more wins (not counting this year yet though), and they both have had 4 DNS.

What a load of rubbish. Are you seriously trying to be some kind of authority by starting a topic to state that comparison of the two leading motogp riders of the 800cc era is invalid no matter what, just because you say so. .... off. How can you watch 5 years of a sport and feel there are no grounds to compare the 2 leading competitors? Put simply sport is quite literally a comparison of peoples abilities in a certain dicipline, if you seriously think you cannot make a comparison i'd suggest either you don't understand the sport you are watching

Exactly. If 5 years is not a valid sample size there is not much point watching, and things usually balance out over such a period. Organising to be with the right team and avoiding injury have always been part of succeeding in premier class gp racing, and both are something at which valentino has hitherto excelled.

Championship wins followed by race wins are the currency, and as someone said earlier in the thread jorge may end up surpassing both rossi and stoner, particularly on a proportionate basis in regard to race wins.

Whats more important though, race wins or world championships? I'd say the latter tbh. Casey has been more dominant, but very inconsistent (clearly the bike). This year either Casey or Jorge will match Rossi for WC's. Nobody gives a .... about race wins in reality, you get remembered for the amount of WC's won.... as it stands right now, Rossi has out performed your boy...i know its hard to accept Pov, its not for long though!

I think there is widespread appreciation of and interest in numbers of race wins, they are constantly listed everywhere as opposed to podium places in races or championships and do mean a rider was the best of all comers on a given day, but very obviously rank below championship wins as you say.

Yeah sure insert a swear word here and there have a crack at me, READ it I have said neither of them have had a Good Bike when the other one has.

So until that happens, the best two riders we can compare are Lorenzo and Stoner.

Ask Colin Edwards if he gives a .... about race wins, in fact ask any of the 30 odd guys who have thrown a leg over an 800cc MotoGP bike and failed to win a race if they give a .... about not winning one.

Why do 17 riders line up on the grid each race? Ask every one of them what their goal is and every one of them will tell you it is winning a MotoGP race.

I would suggest that winning a race is bloody important and the focus of more riders than winning a championship is.

But I agree championships is the #1 stat followed by race wins and then pole positions.

what sort of 12 year old idiot are you?please herpes, show ONE good post you've made

so far all you've done is start unnecessary stupid threads like this one where you don't state and interpret facts in any interesting way at all but just tell people what to think (or accuse commentators of racism and try to get this site into trouble by asking for download links)

when people call you on that sort of .... all you do is mouth them off .
