OK, here's one for you to pick the bones out of, just before I head off on my tortuouse part time job of running corporate scalextric meetings! I'll be really interested to read your comments when I get back in the early hours.

Laguna Seca is an awesome track. I'm equally sure in the riders' eyes that Donington is just as spectacular.

However, I'm not a GP rider, I want to be entertained, and not just on the telly. Picture this;
You're sat on the grass at the Craner Curves, over in the distance you can see 2 of the world's top freestyle motocrossers doing their 'thang' in the glint of the sunshine. Next to them, a multi national trials champion is stunning the average road going biker with his fantastic display of tricks and skill. Out on the track guys are pulling horrendous wheelies and stoppies, whilst the Air Force scare the living crap out of you with random fly passes just yards above your head. Among the massive trade area you find all the major manufacturers with huge display stands, all proudly displaying their championship winning machines from current day to yesteryear. Hell, Honda even build a stage and bring them up one by one to rev the nuts off them to the whoops of the delighted crowd. The kids aint too interested, but that's OK because they're off in the instruction area, where they can learn to ride themselves, for free! Do you fancy another burger and.......'tea'! Hell no, have Mexican, Chinese, Italian, a burger if you really want, but make it a nice one! Budweiser,...more Budweiser, smoothies, fizzies, the choice is endless, and you get change!

Am I dreaming? Well.....yes I am I'm afraid, we have no imagination and do little more than open the gates to an overcharged public. The entertainment is purely dependant on the quality of the races, the odd interesting trade stand, and the obligatory drunkard.

So..............SEE YOU AT LAGUNA!!!!!!

Race? What race? lol

Absulutely Roger, and every high has a low. At Laguna this year they hit record temperatures, they cancelled the national races until after the GP because the track was ripping apart! People were flaking out in the heat.

But they shipped water in by the lorry load and damn near gave it away, and there was plenty to see and do while you waited. It really is a very different experience, and everybody is so damn happy!

well i had a blast at laguna in 05. could'nt make it in 06

friggin work! but it would be impossible to get bored at the usgp. from the sound of it the british gp is lacking in extra caricullar activities. correct me if i'm wrong.

I'm alittle confused. Are you saying Donington does not offer a fulll fan and non-fan experience, why?

I've never been to Donington but just was wondering. I have been to Laguna Seca the last 7 or 8 years (drank so much can't really remember) but I can tell you I had a blast every time. On top of that, every year it’s gotten better. There is something for everybody. The first few years I went with a few friends that were not particularly interested in racing and bike, but they had a great time because of all the other stuff going on.

donny is great. theres more than enough trade stands eating and drinking stands/tents ect in fact it had a lot more than at valencia. when i went in 2002 M.A.G (motor cycle action group) held a big party there, but to top it all the racing was great and you could walk around pretty much the whole circuit to watch the race where ever you wanted.

Sure, the Spitfire is a superb national symbol, so I ask myself the last time I was on the infield (See Red 2005), why had the wing fallen off????

If I get to choose which track to go to... it would be Donnington... I get to watch all three series of the gp championship!

At Donny this year it seemed to me that people turned up late for the 990 race, & as soon as it was finished bugg...went home. But I thought there was some good racing all day, I was happy.

Bah, its a no contest, Donington alll the way! Laguna doesnt even have the 250s or 125s competing, how can you call it a MotoGP event, its not even complete.. Laguna is like racing round a cattle paddock and the road surface sucks!

Donington is a grandprix classic racetrack and is technically and visually superior. It has provided some awesome races and sometimes throws up the variable of rain.. The 250 Donington race in 2005, what more can i say, thats what i call a race..

Who wants to see Hayden race around at the front at one track every year, give Laguna the flick

i went to the 05 GP there, and yup, not having the 125, and 250's SUCKED!!...but i wouldn't say "flick it".. i've been lucky enough to go round Laguna on a bike (when the surface wasn't falling apart), and it's a great track..all it needs is an update..throw in a good long straight and it would be awesome....

Donny has that ...... Melbourne corner thing thats impossible for dyslexic ....... like me on the playstation.

Laguna has the corkscrew. And Mladin to say he's gonna kick someone's ..., so yuo get a laugh outta the weekend too.

Laguna hands down

That ain't you it's the bleeding way the game is programmed, I swear. It must be 'cause I'm bloody amazing on every other game!!

I have to agree I missed not being able to witness 125's around Laguna, it would have been mayhem! A full race programme would be smart.

Interesting to note the rumour of a possible 2nd US GP in '08!!!!!! Rumours normally stem from either fact or desire.

I've also had the pleasure of a lap of Laguna.....fastest Brit in class, FACT!

The thing about having the 125s and 250s at laguna is that having around of the AMA Superbikes as a side show will pull a bigger crowd stateside than the 125s and 250s. On top of that, Laguna's the most remote place on the MotoGP callender. It'd cost the poorer teams a lot of cash to got all the way to the American continent for one race, anyway. If they allowed the 125s and 250s to go stateside, but made it a no-points round for them, I bet no-one would show up. It's a logistical nightmare for teams who are mostly based in Europe, with European sponsors.
Besides, having the AMA Superbike there on the same weekend really gives them a chance to rub it in Spies face. "See that cousin-humping pig farmer wearing the #1 plate? That could be you if you had the balls to move outta yer mum's attic."
