Laguna Seca 2012: RACE

On the photo CS is on the powered tire, traction control maintains the balance between static and kinetic friction. Here, Casey Stoner powerslides his old Ducati (bring back CS on the Duke ..please GOD please!!!) through a corner with the wheelspin laying down a strip of black rubber. MotoGP and World Superbikes have had traction control for years and now the technology has trickled down to the sportbikes that you can buy today; the traction control can be set to allow varying levels of wheelspin.

I missed the race, damn it! Had to leave for work - I saw the opening laps when Jorge was starting to pull a gap there and I assumed it was all over. Apart from a couple of peeps (can't please everyone), it sounded like it was a good one. Glad the Moaner got a much needed victory. It has revitalized the season. Still, I can't really see Lorenzo getting caught. He is so solid every single race. In my book, he still deserves the title at this stage, and will be hard to catch.



I must admit, I like how Casey just blurts out what he thinks which usually pisses people off. But, Jorge's post race comments are commendable. He handles himself well and doesn't make excuses. He is a class act. I can understand why a lot of people don't like Casey - doesn't seem to know when to shut up. But that's Casey - and he is a racer, not a politician. That's why I like the guy. It's gonna be sad not seeing these two race each other next year. It's such a great rivalry. And a rivalry with great respect between the two. It's kinda reminiscent of Rainy and Schwantz in some ways.
 
According to Jumkie Honda/Puig detune Pedrosa'a teamate's bike ............... and still Stoner beat him!!!

Not settling for 2nd may cost him this year's championship though; it would be an 8 point championship if he had settled for second at sachsenring. He would have needed cool weather for all the remaining races anyway because it still does not seem that they have sorted the honda on the hard tyres (ironically, with him not being able to ride the soft version of the old tyre and having most of his wins on the old hard tyre), and jorge to his great credit is not in the business of making mistakes.



I was with gaz in being happy for stoner to get a few more wins (now equal with mike hailwood, if only in premier class race wins) and support dani for the championship but I somehow don't think dani is going to win this championship.

.... you yamaha your a ....., I blame you 100% for his luck this season. Honda is a bunch of spanish midget loving .......s. Yamaha failed to give Ben a bike that was built correctly this entire season. I would tell them to .... off after the swing arm thing, completely inexcusable. And ducati just plain suck balls. motogp is an embarrassment right now.

So if Spies had been on the podium, along with one or other of the Ducatis, that would mean MotoGP isn't an embarrassment?

If spies a ducati and maybe a non-factory bike other than a tech 3 were to be able to podium at any point in this season not because of rain, than yes slightly less embarrassing. Slightly being the key word.
 
Pretty boring race really, Casey rode very smart and managed the tyre perfectly. Seems to be a fair amount of inconsistency with the new tyres...



Don't know what to say about Ben, but in the 10years or so of watching this sport i've never heard of 1 subframe failure, let alone 2 in 1 season. Pretty ...... up really!



Rossi, get on the Yamaha, the Ducati is pish
