What's crazy is I can fly into San Jose cheaper than LAX, but if I do that I miss the Jumkie ride.
I'm going to go ahead and call it, I'll most likely pass out before CK, my wife calls me a cheap date, not much of a drinker, but I'll do my damndest to hang in there as long as I can!!!!!

Chopper is ride, L8, make a trip out of it, you're flying a long long way... try some couchsurfing to keep costs down as you travel, and try www.airbnb.com for some cheap but nice accommodations.

woods will cure you of your girly drinking plighti want to fly into LAX the week before guna so i can get over the jet lag and take a nice slow drive north along the pacific highway stopping at loads of beach's and sights along the way. For me its a lad's get together and a family holiday.
You might consider flying into Phoenix and spending a few nights in the Flagstaff / Grand Canyon area. I could set you up with some camping gear - there are numerous free sites in the National Forest near Flag and GC. Most of Aridzona if a freaking oven in July, but the altitude makes the northern 1/3 of the state tolerable.

Heck, you could even swing by Zion National Park and Las Vegas on the way out.

cheers mate, i will concider this when i start planning and booking flights. Grand canyon is somewhere ive always wanted to see. Vagas doesn't really interest me as im not a gambler and Hookers will be out the question because i will have the misses and kids with me

No saving required, dear! All you need to do is stow away on a freighter! Yea, you may need to eat rats for a few weeks, but this WILL get you to the San Francisco area. After that, it's just a few days' walk to Laguna.

I drive my truck down from Vancouver, If ONE or TWO of you want to fly to San Jose, I can pick you guys up on my way down.
I drive thru San Jose on the Wednesday Evening before the races.
I have lots of camping gear, just bring a sleeping bag and your personal .... and I'll supply the rest
