Laguna Predictions!

i really think pedrosa will struggle here for some reason ... will be a good test for the newbies on an entirely new track ... i say no for a top 5, maybe a top 8...

Whattup GUYs...and gals....out here in california getting ready...we made it out here in the van! Ooost....Nebraska is the most boring state I've ever seen....been there? Ok for the record....my predictions are

Head:
1. Hayden
2. Rossi
3. Hopkins

Heart:
1. Rossi
2. Hopkins
3. Edwards

Katt...I agree with you about the rookies...should make for interesting racing....I promise..tons of pics.....later guys.

1.Rossi - if Rossi can get a good start and not let Hayden get away from go.
2.Hayden - if it comes to a battle between him and Rossi, The Doctor will win.
3.Pedrosa - he gonna surprise (I hope!)

Just a question for anyone who may know, but I thought that the MotoGP bikes were easier to handle than the 250s, and that why the rookies are doing so well, so would that not help Pedrosa here?

thats a good question and topic and i'd like to get into that later when i have more time ... too much work atm.

After riding the 990 cc. for the first time, Pedrosa said that it was hard to believe how 'good' the bike is, and Puniet that the only thing it has in common with a 250 cc. is the fact that it has two wheels and an engine.

They haven't ever raced in Laguna Seca, not even on a 250 cc, so who knows. You can always count on Stoner to give a nice surprise, however.

I think the battle at the front will be a lot like last weeks race except that it will include more americans. Hayden, Rossi, Edwards, Hopkins, Vermullen, Roberts and Pedrosa. Maybe Melandri if he can come to grips with the track. It's going to be a really great race.

No, but I have been to Iowa. I'm sure they are equally boring. Hope the drive was ok and the ride up through Cali should be awesome. Have a great time dude, later man.

OH YES...COLIN EDWARDS TALKING POO!......its gnna be a cracka!

Colin Edwards:
"We had our problems in Germany but we also had problems at Catalunya earlier in the season and seven days later I was fighting to win at Assen. It seems the bike that we have works at some circuits and not so well at others so, like Assen, Laguna will be a bit of a shot in the dark. One thing for sure is that I'm going to fight and barge and do whatever it takes to win. If it comes down to a scrap between the Americans, Hayden and I, then I know I can come out on top this time. Hopefully the bike will work as well as it did at Assen and if it does than I definitely won't make the same mistakes."

hey jared hows it goin bud? you havin fun out there?? lookin forward to seeing the pix man

Glad to see Colin so confident. Kind of a bummer though, he's always been a no BS kind of rider, it sounds like there's a little BS in that statement. Not that Colin can't beat Hayden straight up, but he's never been the kind of guy to say "I can beat him." He's always been the kind of rider to give respect to others and hope for the best. I don't know, I'm probably just being too critical of him. Best of luck to him and I hope he has a good weekend.

lets be honest thow edwards had to cum through the pack last year so its not impossible to c him win, his tyres went off a bit late on but front row start u never know..

I'm not saying he can't so it because I know he is capable to run a race winning pace at Laguna with a good start. It's just he doesn't usually say things like that.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>Start/Finish straight

"They call it the front straightaway but it's not really very straight, you know it's actually got quite a little bend in it and it leads to what I think is probably the most hairy place in MotoGP. It's definitely the loosest…."

Turn One

"You take this in fifth gear up over the hill. The bike wants to wheelie and both wheels come off the ground a bit, so you just wait for it to settle back down on the back side of the hill before opening the throttle."

Turn Two

"For turn two you backshift down into second gear. You try to get in a little too hot - overcook it a little bit - and then bring the bike back in, square it up and try and get the power down as much as possible."

Turn Three

"Here you've sometimes got to be careful on the first lap and make sure there's some heat in the front tyre. It's a really flat corner and you can't really make up a lot of time there - you've really just got to be smooth and get your drive down to turn four."

Turn Four

"This is a really fast corner - faster than it looks - and it's pretty important because it leads onto a straightaway."

Turn five

"Braking for turn five is a good place to pass - it's an uphill corner which means you can carry a lot of speed. It's really important to get a good drive up here because it sets you up for next bend which is uphill and blind."

Turn six

"When you hit the brakes for Turn Six the bike gets unweighted and quite loose. There's a dip right in the middle and you've got to wait for the bike to settle down, hit the dip and then open up the throttle and carry your speed up the hill. It's a big blind hill that leads you up to what I think's the best corner in the world - The Corkscrew."

The Corkscrew (seven)

"There's nowhere else in the world quite like this and it just all happens really quick from here to the finish line. They've made some changes this year and I'm looking forward to seeing what they've done - whether they've made it better or worse. You've got to get the bike stopped, turn left and then flip it right. The ground really drops away so you've got to wait for it to load up and you've got to build the speed carefully. It takes a lot of effort because the bike wants to pull to the left and you've really got to muscle it back to the right for…"

Rainey corner (eight)

"I like the challenge of the Corkscrew but this is probably my favourite corner on the track. It's downhill but it's got a bit of bank and there's definitely a good line that allows you to best get the power down and use the camber to your advantage."

Turn 10

"This corner is so important because it leads you into the final corner, which is the best place to pass, so you've got to get through here cleanly and get a run down into the hairpin."

Turn 11

"This last corner is all about just braking, braking, braking and trying to keep the rear wheel on the ground. It's probably the easiest corner on the circuit to crash at because it's quite bumpy and you trail the brake a long time. A lot of guys get caught out here - and I've done it too many times. Then you just get the bike lifted up and try to keep the front wheel down and accelerate as hard as you can up the hill for another bite at Turn One."

Big charge into the first corner! Hayden, gets bad start and trys so hard he will lose the front and take out Pedrosa, rossi and edwards will end up in the gravel but get back on track.

After a long race

1. Rossi
2. Nakano
3. Gibernau
4. Edwards.

You wait and see !!

ummm no..

not gonna happen.

Whats so wrong with that prediction ?

Rossi ? Has to be a favourite.

Nakano, great rider on a bike which goes fast around corners. Bridgestone tyres, i would think bridgestone would of tested there tyres on this track, america is a huge market for tyres!

Sete Gibernau.... This man is in my opinion the second best rider in the paddock.. only second to rossi. SO many people write him off! You seem to forget that this man has given Rossi an ... slapping on more than one occasion. Sete is also running on Bridgestones!

I am so pleased all you people has criticised my predictions! Glad to see you has done your homework on tyres.

wait and see!

i think that you said that rossi would end up in the gravel on the 1st corner then come back and win it would make people question it! the americans will do well on home soil. you counting out hayden from getting a podium?

Hayden had a advantage last year. This year its even stevens and all that. Hayden is no champion or front runner. I think he will be bout 6th. Sorry all you hayden fans.
