I hate to say it, but there goes Luthi's chance at a back to back title. He only really won by the skin of his teeth last year, and in 125's, every point counts. Even if he manages to get on the grid at Jerez, this will affect his performance.
I'm far from a 125/250 GP expert, but I think 2006 is Kallio's year. I hope so, too. It'll be good to see KTM take a rider's championship.

I wouldn't count out Lüthi yet, 125cc is usually a very competitive championship were it's very difficult to dominate, that leaves room for good "comebacks" by riders that were not scoring big points at the beggining of the season.

Im all honesty, I don't think Luthi's dual championship material. I'd be surprised if he ever goes past 250. I mean, look at the aces who have come up from 125s. Guys like Pedrosa and Rossi. Luthi just not as magic as those guys. Great rider, no doubt, and he'll take some wins this season, but he just dosen't have that dominance in the class, even though he's the defending Champion. I'll liken his situation to JT in the '05 WSBK season. Defending champ, race winner, but not too hot. I got this gut feeling that this is Kallio's year. I wouldn't bet on it (You'd be stupid to bet on a series as competitive and unpredictable as 125) but I'll be keeping an eye on Kallio.

i agree teo. don't count the boy out just yet.... it's a long season!

Yeah, but I have my doubts. It's not like I don't like Luthi, I just don't really have faith in him

i completely agree with richo ....
Kallio will be the one to watch in the 125's this yr. Simon could be one to watch, he put in a few good performances last year .... but probably should be put into our ugly ducklings list too.....

Luthi had a tough battle for the championship last year ... i THINK his strongest point would have had to be his consistency if anything .... despite that fantastic crash involving Gadea. he doesnt look to have much speed on him.... but then i might be confused .... i never paid much attention in the 125's and its been so long since ive watched them race.....

Yeah, me too. But my new years resolution was to pay attention to these bikes.... no matter how small they are

it's excellent racing. always 5, 6 riders scraping it out till the end.

Thomas Luthi will be fit to race at Jerez in just over 2 weeks so then he can start the defence of his 05 title

That's good news, maybe he can make a comeback after all.... but I'm telling ya Kallio will be hard to beat
