Mike Preston, Road Racing Manager of Kawasaki USA has been laid off and his position has been eliminated.

What does this say about the future of Kawasaki in the AMA?

What does this say about the possibility of an MIC breakaway series?

It certainly doesn't look good for Hacking, Hayden, and Mercado. Kawasaki haven't eliminated their race department, but they no longer have a separate operation for road racing in the United States. Kawasaki don't run any equipment in the AMA SBK class and neither Hayden nor Hacking have won a single race this season.

This doesn't bode well for the future of the AMA, even if it does appear to reduce the likelihood of an MIC breakaway.

I don't think it bodes well for a breakaway - unless it's going to happen without Kawasaki's
participation. Logically the MIC would want all of the Big Four companies on board
to make it happen. I have a hard time swallowing Kawasaki's current mindset. Tho
I don't ride one anymore - I was a harcore Kawi guy back in the '70s when everybody's
hero was Lawson. You'd think first it's got to be the bean counters. But I wonder
if they're just getting more conservative. The company can't be that broke.
KHI makes subway cars that are sold all over the world, along with a raft of other
big ticket items.

Kawasaki is embarrassing.
