Just when you thought it couldnt get any worse

I don't need to wait four events into the season. I already have my constructive criticism.

Dear Mr. Edmonson,

I would rather watch the races on the same day that they take place. I understand that broadcasting races live can be quite difficult so I can concede that point, so long as the races are shown on the same day. This way, I won't feel pressured into creating a self-imposed internet blackout for the two weeks between the time the races took place and when SPEED gets around to broadcasting the races. Finally, as a fan of motorsports and not ...... television, I would much prefer watching these races as opposed to the network's latest reality gem featuring a former wrestler. Please take my constructive criticisms into account the next time you plan to .... road racing fans. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Friends of Motorcycles

Buddy, nothing, and i mean nothing that happens on the track is going to change the fact that the so called premier motorcycle series on this side of the planet has been relegated to infomercial status.I dont care if there are 5 bikes in a photo finish the 1st five weeks,it wont be worth watching once you know the results. Add that , to the fact that it is glorified club racing and you can see why close to 99% of bike racing fans are despondent.

so if that is the consensus, why bother watching WSB? It is what you guys have termed NASBIKE....it is no different than club racing, is it? the only thing that really differs is the make of the bike....most everything else is governed by the sactioning body....so why the uproar of AMA and not the same with WSB? Personally, I wish DMG would have just adopted the WSB forumla and left it at that.....I on the other hand, will wait and see what the racing product is like....

I will concede that not getting the race for 2 weeks is a .... move......DMG should have grown a set and had the races aired same day if airing them live was going to be too difficult.....

I think you are getting WSB and DMG confused. DMG is what we are calling Nasbike. In WSB,you have a race bike that fits what fans would call a Superbike. In DMG,you have a stock bike with slicks and a pipe, and a few more minor modifications that they are calling a Superbike. It was called Superstock last year.Add to that, the bumbling buffoon that runs this show has made it perfectly clear that the existing fan base means ..... Put it all together and you have disgruntled fans. As far as sanctioning bodies, every series has one, some know what their doing, and others, well dont.

I hear you buddy. I know our complains must get tiresome. And as one that complains allot, I admit, I don't spend enough time looking at the positives. So yeah, I'm thankful for some of the good changes that DMG represents to our sport. Certainly AMA executives were running a muck. But even those fools had the insight to show most of the racing at very least the same weekend that the events occurred. I don't know where you are from, but could you imagine where say football or baseball would be in America if they showed the games on TV three days later (let alone a week or two)? Not sure if you've seen the news lately, but newspapers are failing! Yeah, newspapers, those people who bring you the news daily. Well even that is too late when you can get the news a few clicks away.

There doesn't really seem to be any good reason why DMG who owns the TV rights, and SPEED a channel dedicated to "motorsports" can't show the races at very least the weekend of. Do you watch SPEED? Check out their programming. There is very little actual racing but alot of bunk as shows that I really wonder, who the hell is watching. Bull Run is the latest in a host of very ........ shows that have no entertainment value. But where is the RACING? Did you know they have several Nascar shows, but none are the actual Nascar racing? Yeah, that is right. So something is very wrong here. The problem of course is there is no competition for these very hungry viewers who want to see motorcycle racing. (BTW, I'm looking into this market).

Also, keep in mind, the very few posters you read on these threads are diehard AMA fans. We want our sport to expand. So by saying, relax, you are kinda telling the pack of wolves to chill out as you dangle a rabbit in front of us.

So here, I wrote this little rhyme, a mantra you can remember, and perhas join us in yelling at SPEED/DMG:

One sure way of keeping the sport at bay... is to show the races on delay!

I think you might be confusing two things on this thread. Most of the uproar is about the delay, not the racing product. That of course remains to be seen. Here I can be more patient, because they have no way of knowing yet how the rules will translate onto the field of racing yet. So, I can be a bit more patient about this.

And I'm with you, I think they should have adopted the WSBK rules and format to the letter, EVERYTHING!

Nice to see that you agree about the delay, perhaps the mantra is taking affect...hahaha

Why would you sign up to be WSBK's .....?

I'm not faulting anyone for preferring the WSBK rules package, but even with the cost cutting WSBK rules in place, the series would still be cost prohibitive for many people who are anxious to participate in the AMA; especially in the current economic environment.

BSB is a perfectly good example of why not to copy WSBK. The series is an inferior copy of WSBK (no disrespect the AMA would be too if it adopted WSBK rules), and WSBK team owners poach your talent because they can easily gauge a rider's ability on WSBK equipment.

WSBK is a safe play. The AMA have been playing it safe for way too long and it has resulted in the manufacturers (one in particular) running the series. The power base needs to be decentralized amongst the participants so one powerful participant can't gain control and wreck the series for economic gain.

Even with WSBK rules, the manufacturers still have a stranglehold.
